READING WITH THE CHEETAHS

Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think. -Albert Einstein

ALPHABET TRAINS
If you have a child who is learning letter names and letter sounds, then try this fun activity at home to practice.
- Begin using the letters in their name
- mix the letters and line them up
- have the child point to the letter and say the name
- if they do not know it, tell them the letter and have the child repeat it
Once the child knows the letters in their name, begin introducing one or two new letters at a time. Remember, start small and then work on building the train bigger and bigger as your child learns more letters.
Need a challenge? Do this same activity using letter sounds! (or even numbers)
Don't have magnetic letters at home? Write it on paper and cut it up!

The Solar Eclipse was TOTALITY fun!
1st grade students in Mrs. Abdulla's class celebrated the Solar Eclipse event in a special way! Students broke into small groups and participated in a reader's theater. This means they all performed a short skit about the solar eclipse in front of the class. The Assistant Principal, Mr. Potts, even made a surprise visit during the performances! Students worked all day practicing and memorizing their lines, designing props, and learning to read with expression. Mrs. Abdulla was very sneaky in how she was able to squeeze in reading instruction within the Solar Eclipse celebrations!

PARENT SURVEY
Teachers at Crestview work hard to get to know each individual student. This helps us better provide instruction that meets your child's learning needs. Therefore, Mr. Fredde and myself created a parent survey for the students we have the pleasure of working with. Please take a moment to complete the survey below by selecting your child's name and answering a few questions. When finished, click on "submit". Thank you in advance!
