UCAS Update
December 3, 2020
Message from Administration
Dear Parents and Students,
As the semester winds down, we have a few updates for you. First, please be sure to review our schedule for finals week. It can be found here.
The last day of the semester is Friday, December 18. Teachers will have their grades finalized in SIS by the end of the day on Monday, December 21. The schedule for the first week in January will be as follows:
Tuesday, January 5: B Day
Wednesday, January 6: A Day
Thursday, January 7: B Day
Friday, January 8: A Day
This schedule and all updates can be found on our school calendar here.
Schedules for second semester: Our counselors are in the process of finalizing schedules for January. The hybrid schedule will not change for the entire semester. We have made this plan in advance and we anticipate the hybrid schedule will run until the end of the school year in order to provide consistency as families plan their schedules.
We will assume you want to keep your current cohort schedule (A, B, or online) unless you communicate differently. If you switched to online mid-semester, please let us know your intentions for the second semester. Any changes need to be communicated by Wednesday, December 16. (Cohort B currently has fewer students than Cohort A.) Please help us keep this deadline, as we want to settle on balancing course loads, and we may not be able to make changes after the new semester begins.
We understand that situations change, but to ease the stress on our teachers, please try to limit requests to switch to a fully online schedule mid-semester. We ask that you make the decision to attend hybrid or online before the start of the semester. Doing so will maximize your success in either schedule. If your family situation allows it, we recommend the hybrid schedule over the online, as we have seen better grades and success with this format. At the same time, we honor the decision you make as a parent and we are continually improving our online program.
COVID-19 testing and other information: You may have heard that there is COVID-19 testing available at UVU. This is not correct. UVU cannot test minors. They also cannot test adults who are not employees. If you need to be tested for COVID-19, please use one of the resources found on the health department website.
If you have been tested for COVID-19, please stay home until you receive your results.
As a reminder, all of our updated COVID information can be found on this webpage.
You can do it! We have just a few weeks left! Keep working hard, keep being strong, and keep being your best self. We love our students and we will make it through! As my mom used to say, “Onward and Upward”.
