Masks
Reminder for Parents: Wearing a mask in the classroom and bus consistently is even more important now with the change in quarantine for students. If ALL students and staff in the classroom or on the bus are masked, they would not have to quarantine if a close contact. Please work with your student to understand the importance of masking in the classroom and bus.

Second Steps
Dear Families,
Just like you, we want your child to be successful in school and their future. Each week we will be communicating information about our Second Step lessons in our school newsletter.
Beginning the week of Sept. 13th, we will begin our social and emotional learning lessons. These lessons come from three different research-based programs (Second Step, MindUP, and Common Sense Media) that are designed to improve students’ social-emotional skills, such as emotion management, skills for learning, digital citizenship, impulse control, problem solving, and empathy.
If you have any questions about our social emotional learning work, please don’t hesitate to contact me for more information. You can find the Second Step scope and sequence for your child under our curricular resources here: https://www.hseschools.org/academics/teaching-and-learning/curricular-resources .
Thank you for your support as we work to build a safe and supportive school community.
Sincerely,
Jenn Lance, School Counselor

USED WATER & SODA BOTTLE COMPETITION!!
We have now collected over 2600 bottles!!! Thank you all! last day 6o bring in bottles is Friday, September 10th!
We are sponsoring a contest to see which class can bring in the most used water and soda bottles (16-20 oz CLEAR bottles – no colored ones) starting Friday 8/27 – Friday 9/10 to help with an important community and environmental cause. The class that brings in the most will get an extra recess! Please rinse and remove the labels from the bottles and send them with your students or drop them off in the office with the class name on the bag. So why are we doing this?
The Marching Tiger Band at Fishers High School is on a mission to collect THOUSANDS of used bottles to create 8 gigantic sculptures like the one below (minus the whale) to use in their half-time/competition show AQUANOVA. At the end of the band season, all bottles will be recycled with Terra Cycle, a land recycling alliance/partner with 4Ocean. 4Ocean is a non-profit company committed to ending the ocean plastic crisis by using recycled plastic water and soda bottles to make a variety of products. Every 4Ocean product purchased comes with a promise to remove 1 pound of trash from our oceans, rivers, and coast lines, while also working to stop plastic pollution at its source. AQUANOVA – IT’S MORE THAN A SHOW – IT’S A CAUSE! We greatly appreciate your help!!
