Mrs. Walters' News

Dear Bushnell Elementary Families,

This will be the last newsletter before our spring break! We will not have school from Friday April 2-Sunday April 11. We come back for the remaining weeks of this school year on Monday April 12th!

Thank you to all of the Bushnell families that placed orders from our Online Library Book Fair this year! We appreciate your support and are very grateful for the funding we earned to buy some new library books! We earned $150 and already placed an order for these new books for Bushnell students to enjoy for years to come!!

We wrap up our March is Reading Month next week with a focus on how Books Help Us Be CONFIDENT! Our students narrowed our Book Battle down to the Final Four and will be narrowing down to the chosen winner next week. The day before break on Thursday we will have a building wide celebration and DRESS UP AS A FAVORITE BOOK CHARACTER!!!

I am excited to share that students have turned in 517 reading logs which equals 2,068 books! Thank you to the parents who spent the time encouraging reading at home this month. Keep it up!

Last Tuesday we held a virtual Family Fun night. I had a blast engaging with the 67 families who logged on with your kids! I hope your kiddos had a good time too! If you didn't make it- there is a link below for a story called 'Scribble Stones.' Please take the time to listen to the story with your child, paint the rock that came home with your child and have them bring it back to school to help us decorate our front entry and spread some joy!

Yearbook order information is down below. If you need help ordering, please call directly at 989-227-8441.

Attention families with incoming kindergarteners!!! Kindergarten enrollment for next fall is open! If you have a student who will turn 5 by September 1st 2021, they can start their school journey! You may also sign a waiver for your child to start school if they turn 5 by December 1st 2021. Paper work required includes proof of residency, original birth certificate, up to date immunizations and a health appraisal. Information can be found on our Lowell Area Schools website here.

Schools of Choice Parents: Internal and external schools of choice applications for the 2021-22 school year will be available from April 12-May 14. You must submit your internal choice application to the elementary building of residence. The district will not accept internal choice applications prior to or after these dates. If you applied and were approved, it is not necessary to re-apply. Applications and open grade levels will be available on our website, www.lowellschools.com, April 12, 2021.

It's been a great week of learning and growing at Bushnell!
