Homecoming Week 2019 Is Here

When you think of some of your best memories, is a Howell Vikings or Howell event on your list? As thousands of Viking fans and Howell alums can attest, it is truly a great time to be a Viking! Homecoming is the perfect opportunity to come back to Howell and to enjoy the many events taking place! Where else can you wear your blue and gold and celebrate the great tradition of excellence at Francis Howell? Whether you are a current student or Howell alum, come out and show your Viking Pride this week and celeberate with your Howell Family!


This week many great events will be taking place over the course of the week and many spirit themed days will be the focus of our dress during the week. This week will also mark the return of the "Homecoming Festival" for students during the afternoon on Thursday and will offer many great activites for all Vikings to help celebrate Homecoming week. You can view the many activities we have going on this week below.


On Friday night enjoy the homecoming football game as our Vikings take on Troy. Viking fans will also be treated to performances by the band, cheer, and dance programs. At halftime the Homecoming Court will also be introduced. Friday night's game begins at 7:00 p.m. and gates open at 5:30 p.m. Be sure to arrive early so you can see the Band performance at 6:35 p.m. prior to the game.

Limited Number Of Homecoming Shirts Remain

A limited number of Homecoming 2019 shirts remain for purchase. These shirts can be purchased during all lunches this week for just $15 while supplies last. The shirts are a Howell tradition and are sold by our Cheer program. All proceeds go to benefit their continued support of all of our Viking events and programs at Howell!

Homecoming Tickets On Sale This Week

Homecoming tickets are on sale again this week! Please make sure your fines are paid or you will not able able to purchase tickets. Tickets will be on sale during all lunches and new this year is the ability to use a credit card to purchase your tickets. Below are the dates and cost of tickets for Homecoming.

Band Wins Award For Outstanding Percussion, Outstanding Music & Outstanding Visual Performance While Finishing 2nd At Edwardsville Competition

Congratulations to our Band on their strong showing at the Edwardsville Competition on Saturday. Our Vikings took home the award for "Outstanding Percussion," "Outstanding Music" and "Outstanding Visual Performance." The Viking Band finished 2nd overall at the highly competitive competition. Congratulations to the Band on a great performance at Edwardsville! You can view this amazing show prior to the football game this Friday night at 6:35 p.m. You will want to make sure to be in your seats to see this great show from our Viking Band!

Cheer Has Large Turnout For Future Viking Clinic

Last weekend the Cheer program hosted their annual Future Viking clinic. Students from across the district attended a full day of coaching and choreography which was led by our high school cheerleaders. These Future Vikings then returned on Monday night to perform at halftime of the JV Football game. Thank you to our cheerleaders, coaches and parents that helped to create great memories for these students. This is just another great Howell Family and community event hosted by our programs!

Help Promote & Support Our Howell Family & Programs

The Vikings have gotten off to a strong start this fall across all programs and the support for our programs and attendance at events and games has reached new heights. The focus within all Howell programs extends well beyond the sport or activity involved in. All participants, coaches, parents and fans at Howell are held to high standards that revolve around the Activities Department R.I.S.E. core values of respect, integrity, sportsmanship and excellence. These core values help to guide our programs and experiences for those that participate and attend Howell activities, events and games. The goal is to not only have successful programs but to represent Howell in the best way possible. Below you can find several excellent ways that you can continue to promote and grow our Howell programs as we strive to become the best high school activities department in the State. The promotion and support of our programs by our Howell Family will help us achieve these goals. Thank you to all Vikings and fans for their continued support of Howell and our programs!

Football Ranked #8 In State Rankings

The football program moved to 3-1 on Friday night after a 45-12 win over FHC. Our Vikings are currently ranked #8 in the State and look to move up the rankings this week. This is the first time since 2017 that the Vikings have been inside the top 10. The Vikings are also well represesented in several other local and statewide polls. The lower level programs are also off to strong starts with the JV at 2-1 and the freshman at 3-0. You can catch our Vikings in action this Friday at 7:00 p.m. for the Homecoming game versus Troy. Good luck to Coach Chojnacki and the football program as they try to make a strong post-season run in 2019.

Baseball Program Does Cleanup With Adopt-A-Highway

Giving back to the community and providing outreach is at the forefront of what Howell programs do. This past weekend the Baseball program volunteered as part of the Adopt-A-Highway program on Highway 94. Thank you to all of our baseball players that were involved and thank you to the program for being involved in our community!

JV Cheer & GG's Add To Game Day Atmosphere

You may have noticed several friendly new faces as you are entering the stadium on Friday nights for home football games. This season the JV Cheer & Golden Girl programs have partnered to help welcome both Viking and visiting fans to the game on Friday nights. Prior to the game you can find them in front of the stadium not only performing, but also handing out programs and being the first point of contact for fans entering the stadium. Thank you to both programs for helping to create an unmatched atmosphere at our events and helping to welcome all fans and community members to Howell.

JV Golf Takes 2nd In Holt Tournament

Congratulations to our Lady Vikings JV Golf team on their strong performance in the Holt JV Tournament. The team shot a very respectable 202 to take 2nd place out of 8 teams. Our very own Natalie Rottmann placed 3rd for the tournament overall as an individual. ln all, all 5 of our golfers finished in the top 18 for the tournament. Congratulations to the JV Golf team!

This past week the DECA program attended Career Day at Busch Stadium. The event featured many speakers and helped to provide a clear picture of what companies in Sports and Entertainment are looking for in their prospective employees. This past week Howell alums Brett Graves and Nate Orf returned to Howell to speak with Coach Cissell's Sports Enhancement class. Both former Vikings just returned from the end of their AAA season's. Thank you to both Graves and Orf for their work to represent Howell in such a positive way at the MLB level and for giving back to Howell through their outreach in our classrooms and programs!
