GVES Summer Update #1
July 6, 2020
Principals' Message
The 19'-20' dust has settled and we're in full swing planning an awesome 20'-21' school year. While some of our school buildings will reopen in phases this summer Garnet Valley Elementary will remain closed. We are thrilled that all of our classroom HVAC systems are being replaced and our main office is getting a 'safety' facelift. While this work is being completed, if you need to contact our main office please use the following information below.
Warm regards,
Mrs. Jones & Mrs. Conley

Transportation Note from Dr. Bertrando
Dear Parents,
As we prepare for the 2020-21 academic year, one of the issues that we face is maintaining social distancing on our buses. Distancing impacts the number of students that we can fit onto the buses as well as the routing that we will use to get students to and from school. In order for us to plan appropriately, we need detailed information from parents regarding transportation.
Please click here and complete this form indicating your child's intent to ride the bus to and from school. If you have more than one child attending the same school, please fill out a separate form for each child. For those parents who are still unsure, please select the appropriate "yes" button on the survey. Also, so that parents have added context for their decision, drivers and students will be required to wear masks on the bus. We also will only allow a maximum of two students per bus seat.
Thank you!
Dr. Marc Bertrando, Superintendent
Garnet Valley School District

2. You are planning to withdraw your student from GVES before the start of the 20/21 school year.
Instrument Returns
Currently the Wilmington, DE store is accepting physical returns. As the PA counties move into the yellow phase the stores will be offering curbside service (at the minimum). If parents want to be sure that the account is not accruing debt, they need to call customer service and have the company put the account into the return pending status. The phone number is: 888-731-5396.
Zeswitz Instrument rentals:
Please call the company directly and arrange for a no contact porch pickup at your home. 610-406-4300
Elementary iPad Program for 2020-2021 School Year
All K-5 students will receive an iPad this summer to use at school and at home. In order for your child to receive his/her iPad, a parent/guardian must sign off on Garnet Valley’s Acceptable Use Policy, iPad Care, and decide if they would like to purchase insurance for the device. All parents must complete this process for their child to receive an iPad.
There is NO charge for this iPad. However, if parents would like to purchase insurance for accidental damages, they can now do so. So that we can offer families the lowest possible rate, Garnet Valley has partnered with Edvative, an educational non-profit, to assist with this program.
This program is optional and offered to Garnet Valley families who want the peace of mind of having their child’s iPad insured for accidental damages for the 2020-2021 school year.
