The Compass
Week of February 6, 2023
Navigation Notes
Greetings Westside Families! Our Explorers continue to exceed our expectations in numerous ways. Be sure to see some of the "bright spots" from last week below in our newsletter!
We want to SHOUT OUT our amazing substitutes who have been supporting our campus recently! Thank you Ms. Francis, Mrs. Kiszkiel, Mrs. Lies, Mr. Stenson, Mrs. Martin, Ms. Craigo and Ms. Andrews! These amazing individuals have helped maintain consistent instruction and support for students while their teachers were absent.
Reminder of our updated Check-out Policy: the latest a student can be checked out by a legal guardian will be 1:45pm (M-Th) and 12:30pm (Fridays). Please plan accordingly. Parents arriving after 1:45pm will be asked to join our normal car loop line for dismissal. Additionally, if you are checking out your child during Activity, lunch or recess, they may not have access to their backpacks and other materials. Please check with your child's teacher and avoid these times.
As always, thank you for your support! Our office will be open Monday-Friday from 7:30AM-3:30PM. Please come on in if we can assist you in any way.
~Mrs. Stephanie Woodbury, Principal

Literacy Night Sponsors Needed
Westside is looking for one or more businesses to sponsor our upcoming Literacy Night on March 2nd. If you are interested in supporting this event and earn FREE ADVERTISING from our school, please email Brianne Tison at Tison.Brianne@BrevardSchools.org.
We would like to offer a "grab and go" meal for families that night and need monetary donations or Wal-Mart Gift Cards to purchase the food and paper products. Any amount will help!
Businesses who sponsors will receive FREE advertising on our social media, newsletters and electronic marquee!

Friday is Family Lunch Day!
We had a good turnout for our Parent/Student Lunch Day last Friday! Thank you to the families who joined us and we look forward to seeing more of you this Friday.
At this time, we must follow the parameters listed below per BPS guidelines:
- This opportunity will only be available on Fridays.
- Only adults on the approved pick-up list for a child will be allowed to have lunch with students. You will need to present your photo ID at the front office and receive a visitor's tag. When done, you must sign out before leaving campus.
- A designated area will be provided for the adult and student.
- Adults will only be allowed to eat lunch with THEIR child and we request only two adults per child please.
- Adults who are not registered volunteers will be monitored by school staff at all times.
- Adults will be permitted to be on campus for lunch for their child's 30-minute lunch block (times listed at end of newsletter for all classes). Once your child's lunch is over, we kindly as you to sign out and exit campus. If you have multiple children and want to have lunch with all of them, you must wait for additional lunch times in the front office, glass booth, or your vehicle.
- You may bring in food from outside sources for your child only. Any leftover drinks or snacks will not be allowed back in class however.
