Living The Pirate Way - LSE Middle School
The Pirate Way
It was a busy week at LSE. Students were busy in classes learning about weather systems, Anne Frank, how to create expectations art work for individual areas, boosting spelling skills, researching a topic correctly, preparing for mass band night, and solving probability questions in math. We had 6 students attend a Non-Traditional Jobs Day at CMU to explore the health care field and are excited to provide more opportunities for learning about careers.
I encourage you to ask your student open ended questions about their learning like "How did you learn best today?"
...because we all want to hear more than "Fine," "Nothing," "I don't know," and the dreaded "Whatever" that often are answers our middle schoolers give us. We know how hard it is sometimes to get them to volunteer their thoughts.
We had the can tab challenge, we wrapped up fall sports and organizations like Honor Society, StuCo, and Science Olympiad are really gearing up.
I wanted to start with a BIG SHOUT OUT to our students for really exhibiting The Pirate Way this week. Everywhere I went, students were following expectations and really trying to be respectful, responsible and their best.

The Pirate Way Expectations
We also hosted the second Pirate Store of the year where students could spend the Pirate Bucks they earned for following and exceeding the expectations for The Pirate Way - Be respectful, be responsible, be your best.
Our common area expectations are included below. We are working to have these displayed all over the building for everyone who comes to learn or visit. We will be reviewing expectations with the students in the coming week and helping them follow them each day.
