Happy Sunday Pirate Families!
Happy Sunday Pirate Families! We have a busy week, so let's jump right in! Tomorrow we will kick off our Paying It Forward Penny War to assist schools that were recently flooded from Hurricane Dorian. We certainly appreciated all the support we received after Hurricane Florence and are looking forward to paying it forward! Each HR teacher will have a jar in the main lobby. Students can put money in any jar. Pennies are positive points (they go in your teacher's jar), silver and dollar bills are negative points (so those would go in your opponent's jar). The drive will end this Friday at 3 pm with all money raised going to Hyde County Schools. The winner will be announced the following week.
On Tuesday all Candy Man orders are due so please send those in.Tuesday is also IT Professional's Day, so let's be sure to let Ms. Kristyn Hall & Mr. Mark Godfrey know just how much we appreciate them! It is also Moore's BBQ Spirit Night so be sure to pick up dinner from Moore's 4-8 pm on Tuesday and give your receipt back to the cashier so that it can go towards helping our school.
On Wednesday our 3rd graders will take the BOGs. We will need to switch 3rd grade specials and lunch with 1st grade to accommodate testing.
On Thursday we will have our first Early Release day of the school year. Car riders will dismiss at 12:05 and bus riders will arrive at their stops 3 hours earlier than usual. On Early Release days we run a different schedule and students eat in the classrooms, so we are unable to accommodate lunch guests on Early Release days. Thanks for understanding.
On Friday we will have our first LOCK DOWN DRILL of the school year. This is just a drill. Please speak with your child about the importance of school safety. Also on Friday we will have our first Sweeterthings Ice Cream Shak Spirit Night from 4-8pm. They are located near Las Fincas and you will need to give your receipt back to the cashier for school credit. This would make a great treat for good behavior and hard work throughout the week and would also help raise money for our school.
Last but not least, go ahead and mark your calendar now for our Open House which will be September 24th. We will have K-2 with sessions running 5-5:25 & 5:30-5:55, then grades 3-5 with sessions running 6- 6:25 & 6:30-7 pm. This is a chance for you to learn more about expectations and ways we can work together to help each and every child succeed. This is not a time for individual conferences.
We are looking forward to another fabulous week of learning at SBES!
