FJVD Weekly Info

We Live the Word!

From the Principal's Desk

Dear FJVD Families,

We hope you enjoyed your first Specials Day today! It was wonderful seeing the students creativity in their art and music assignments, as well as out there getting in some exercise for physical education. Our next Specials Day is Friday, May 22nd, and we're already looking forward to more exciting activities from our Specials teachers.

Although the academic year will not be concluding the way we had imagined, there are still so many accomplishments to celebrate and memories to cherish in our annual Yearbook! Yearbooks are now available for order! Visit the Lifetouch website: YBPay.Lifetouch.com and enter our Yearbook ID code 1866620 to order! Please note that all 8th grade students will receive a complimentary yearbook. No need to order!

Don't forget that the deadline for applications for the Father John V. Doyle Commemorative Scholarship is this Monday, May 18th. For more information on the scholarship, which is open to all students currently in grades six or seven, review the application information here or visit www.fjvd.org and see the link under FJVD Info at the bottom of the homepage.

See the Forms and Important Documents section below for more information on busing and uniforms for next year, including purchasing gym t-shirts and attire through our PTO bulk order sale.

Finally, we're getting ready for our Online Auction Kick-Off Event on Thursday, May 21st starting at 7pm. Join Fr. Woolley, long-time principal Mr. Bob McDermott, and myself to learn more about the school’s mission and how your support will benefit Doyle students both inside and outside of the classroom. In addition, the event will feature a detailed description of many of the wonderful packages and items to be auctioned off in the next week, including the Tom Brady Autographed Helmet, Disney Park Hopper Passes which are good until December 27, 2021, Fr. Woolley's Home Brewed Beer, and much more!

As always, thank you for your continued support. Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable three day weekend. Enjoy tomorrow's vacation day! Know of my continued prayers for you and your families.

God Bless and Go Saints!

Sincerely,

Mr. Peloquin

Upcoming Events and Reminders

FJVD Gives Back

We're happy to partner with our friends at Black Oak restaurant in Coventry for what we're calling #FJVDGivesBack. As many of you know, restaurants have been hit particularly hard by the current crisis. Black Oak, right down the street from FJVD, has been a great supporter of our school this year - from providing food for our 7th & 8th Grade Pasta Dinner to a generous donation to our school auction and more. So, if you're thinking of take out in the week ahead, we'd encourage you to stop by Black Oak for your meal. Feel free to mention we sent you and post a picture using the hasthags #fjvdgivesback and #blackoakcoventry. They hope to open this weekend for outdoor dining and are currently open for curbside take-out.

Aluminum Can Tab Collection

What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected

Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence

How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.

Bottle Cap Drive

We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This provides new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.

All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.

Thank you!
