Bransford Blast
January 8, 2017
What an excited first week of the second semester! Our Texans enjoyed the rare sighting of snow on Friday. Many of our classes took advantage of the weather and did some science and writing lessons related to snow.
With the weather on Friday came some minor issues with afternoon pick-up. Thank you for taking a few minutes to review Bransford's drop-off and dismissal procedures listed below to ensure the safety of all Texans.
Also this week, on Thursday, as part of House Bill 2804, the Texas Education Agency released the provisional A-F ratings for every school and district in the state. These official ratings will not be released until August 2018, but the provisional ratings attempt to provide schools and districts an estimate of how campuses could rank under the new accountability system. If you would like more information on the rating system, please visit this link, http://tea.texas.gov/Student_Testing_and_Accountability/Accountability/A-F_Accountability_Resources/.
The best part of the week was having all of our Texans back in school, ready and excited for the second semester! Looking forward to a wonderful semester as we continue to build an excellent school together!
Drop-Off and Dismissal Procedures
Drop-Off
- Student drop-off starts at 7:15 a.m. Thank you for not dropping students before 7:15 a.m. as there are not adults in the building to supervise them. If you have a need to drop-off your Texan before 7:15, we offer extended day services through KidzU.
- All Texans are dropped in the front of the building except for pre-k, bus, and KidzU.
Dismissal
- Dismissal begins at 2:55 p.m. with students exiting their classrooms.
Please call the front office, 817-305-4920, by 2:00 p.m. if there is a change in how your student(s) will go home.
Students leaving early for the day will need to be signed out by 2:30 p.m.
Dismissal begins at 2:55 p.m. with students exiting their classrooms.
All students, except for pre-k, are dismissed from the front drive.
Car Riders
Cars are to use the entrance on Bransford Road and form two lanes once they enter the parking lot. Cars are not allowed in the pick-up line before 2:35 pm. If you arrive before 2:35 p.m., please park in the parking lot. Thank you for not blocking the drive so traffic can enter the parking lot.
Cars pull up all the way to allow for loading of multiple cars at once.
Display the car tag sign in the front window with student name(s) and grade level(s). If you need a car tag, please let your teacher or the front office know.
Staff will call the names displayed on your car tag(s) to inform students of where to meet their ride.
Cars exit on Glade Road. If you are in the right lane, you will exit right. If you are in the left lane, you will exit left. Thank you for not switching lanes in the front drive.
Cell phone use is prohibited in car line. The car line is part of the school zone. Thank you for refraining from utilizing your cell phones in the school zone.
If you arrive after 3:05 p.m., you must park and sign your child out from KidzU.
Pre-K Dismissal
- All pre-k students will be dismissed in the bus lane beginning at 3:00 p.m. once the buses have left Bransford.
- Thank you for staying in your vehicles until the buses have departed campus.
- Older siblings will meet pre-k students in the cafeteria to be dismissed together.
We thank you for following the procedures above for the safety of all of our Texans!

Grant Opportunity
Dr. Jesse Schroeder of Schroeder Orthodontics, one of the GCISD Education Foundation’s official corporate sponsors and supporter of many schools, is proud to announce a Teacher’s Grant Contest. For the fourth year, he will be sponsoring five $1,000 grants as part of his five year $100,000 commitment to the Education Foundation and our school district. The grant will be given to a teacher in each grade, first-fifth. These are the key points to enter:
- Have your Texan write or draw a one-page idea of what he/she thinks the teacher could do for the students with the $1,000 grant.
- Students submit drawing or writing to their teachers by February 2, 2017.
- The teacher is to select the one that he/she thinks best expresses a good use of the grant; the selections will be submitted to the Education Foundation Office on Friday, February 3, 2017.
- The Education Foundation will deliver the submissions to Schroeder Orthodontics for selection of the five winners.
- The winners will be announced with check presentations to the teachers at the annual GCISD Council of PTAs Founder’s Day luncheon and program, Thursday, February 23.
There are no rules as to how the one-page drawing or writing should be done so be creative! Please make sure that your students have their name, grade, teacher’s name and school’s name on the submission.
