Bearcat Bulletin

Learn. Lead. Grow. Succeed. Together.

August 30, 2019

Happy Friday HES families! Our students and staff are working hard each day, and we have some firmly established routines and procedures in place to help us learn! Students in each classroom are engaged with reading books, working together to solve math problems, and conducting science experiments! We are excited to show our families how we will learn, grow, lead and succeed together this year! We have an extra-long weekend approaching! I hope everyone can take a few extra moments to spend with your family during this time. Time with our kids passes quickly, so grab every extra second you can with them!

School will not be in session on Monday, September 2. Happy Labor Day!

School will not be in session for students on Monday, September 9 for teacher professional development.

Bearcat Tailgate

We hope to see you tonight at the tailgating event before the first home HHS Bearcat football game! Free hot dogs and water will be available along with some fun decorations and activities from our schools and community organizations. Come see us!

Computers for Education

Our Computers for Education fundraiser starts today! Your child should bring home a booklet of postcards to be addressed to families and friends. Your child receives 1 prize for a completed booklet and a small token for a partial booklet. The prizes are on display in our lobby! HES receives 10 cents per address we collect, and your participation is voluntary! The money collected helps pay for student incentives, school-wide parties, and field trip expenses. This year our school goal is 190 full booklets! Thank you for your help!

Morning Drop Off Procedure

Thanks for helping our days start smoothly at HES! With the addition of some newly poured concrete, we are now able to unload 3 cars at a time in the yellow caution zone in front of the building. Once you pull into the yellow zone, your children can unload from your vehicle. You do not have to wait until you are right in front of the steps. We may not be able to make it to all 3 cars to open the car door, but we would still like your children to unload. This should speed the process up each morning!

Also, if you must park to unload your children, please park on the opposite side of the street. You MUST exit your side of the vehicle first, while your child waits for you to OPEN his/her door. Then you should walk to the crosswalk together. Please DO NOT allow your child to exit your vehicle without you at their side.

Thanks for working with us to ensure the safety of all of our students.

Hermann Elementary is a Title 1 School. Title 1 is a federally funded program provided to districts to help their students meet state standards. All students can benefit from the resources and support from our Title 1 staff. Amy earned a Bachelors of Science in Education from Southeast Missouri State University in 2008 majoring in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. In 2010 she obtained her Masters in Education Administration. Since 2010 I have been teaching Grades Kindergarten thru Second Grade at Hermann Elementary School. This year will be her 12th year of teaching.

Paige earned a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri – St. Louis in 2010 majoring in Elementary Education. She earned her Masters in Elementary Education this summer as well as a Reading Specialist Certification.

Since 2010, she has prior experience working in Title 1 positions in multiple other school districts. Here in Hermann, she has taught Fifth Grade and Third Grade. This will be her 4th year of teaching.
