Next week we are starting poetry. If you can have your child bring in a small item that they can hold in their hand. The item needs to have a special memory, emotion, or a souvenir from a great trip.
I am needing stickers and treasure box items. We are also needing some clorox wipes. Thanks for thinking of us.
This and That
January 27th-31st
Reading: Students will recognize & analyze poetry characteristics and how they contribute to the author’s purpose. Students will explain visual patterns and structures of poetry including repetition and figurative language.
Writing: This week, we will use poetic characteristics (focus on sensory language) and compose an original poem. Students will bring in an object from home that provokes a strong emotion or triggers a memory to use as the topic for their poem.
Spelling: out, has, dad, small, must, name, place, together
Grammar: Students will revisit the importance of capitalization and when to use it.
Science: When the environment changes, living things adapt for survival. We will focus on what causes living things to hibernate, migrate, and go dormant.
Math: Students will continue to work on financial literacy activities. They will participate in activities that involve savings, spending, deposits, and withdrawals.
