Mountain Lion Minute
Week of November 16th
Mountain Lion Families,
It was a pleasure to see our third through sixth graders in our building last week. Their positive energy was definitely felt in our school. Thank you for working with us as a team during virtual and hybrid learning. We are so proud of our students for following our safety guidelines!
As many are you aware by now, the Montgomery County Board of Health passed an order requiring all schools to move to virtual education only for a two week period around the Thanksgiving holiday. As Dr. Dietrich's email this past Friday stated, communication will be sent in the coming days with specifics to help your families plan for virtual instruction. My hope is that this building closure will only last the specified two week period of time. Stay tuned for detailed communication.
Diwali occurred this past Saturday, November 14th. It is also called a Festival of Light. Diwali is celebrated for 10 days. The Kulkarni family celebrates Diwali and had this to say: "We celebrate Diwali lighting lot of lamps all over our houses. We dress up in traditional attire. We make Rangoli designs at the front of our houses and put fireworks at night. We celebrate Diwali with each and every person we know sharing yummy sweets and snacks. Diwali is the last day of Hindu calendar hence, the next day of Diwali is celebrated as New year in many parts of India. We wish one another by saying “Shubh Deepawali” and “Nutan Varshabhinandan”."
There will be more information about Diwali festival and how it is celebrated, posted on H&S face book page and MCC YouTube channel.

Kathleen is a special person with a kind heart. Her willingness to step in and help whenever needed is something that does not go unnoticed. She is patient with students and offers great ideas to help them to be successful in school. Kathleen is not only my respected colleague, but she is also my friend.
On a side note, she loves everything and anything to do with pineapples:)"
