Wynford Elementary

December--2019

From the Desk of Mrs. Ratliff

The Wynford Education Foundation offered grant opportunities to the teachers again this year. Teachers apply for funds to support the students they work with. Of the available $11,600, Wynford Elementary Staff were awarded $6,673.82. The teachers used these funds to purchase computers, online subscriptions, books, games, and a projector. We cannot thank the Wynford Education Foundation enough for their continued support of our students and staff. If you are willing to donate to the Foundation, please contact the office, we will give the information needed.

There are Salvation Army barrels in the lobby. We will be collecting canned goods until December 18th.

The Lighting of the Royal Christmas Tree is this Wednesday at 6:00 pm. Our second graders will be singing Christmas Carols, hot chocolate will be served and the PTO Santa Shop will be open. This year, we will be supporting our students in need with a Royal Angel Tree. Tags will be hung on a tree in the lobby. The tags will be numbered and contain information for students in need. If you are unable to make the tree lighting, but would like to help support our local families, please call the office and tags can be sent home with your student. All information will be sent along with the tags from the tree.

We appreciate all the support that is given to our staff and students throughout the year, and especially during the holiday season for the families who need it the most.

We wish you the happiest and healthiest holidays yet!

Yours in Education,

Nelle Ratliff

7 Habits Review--Habit 3--Put First Things First

To live a more balanced existence, you have to recognize that not doing everything that comes along is okay. There's no need to overextend yourself. All it takes is realizing that it's all right to say no when necessary and then focus on your highest priorities.
Habit 1 says, "You're in charge. You're the creator." Being proactive is about choice. Habit 2 is the first, or mental, creation. Beginning with the End in Mind is about vision. Habit 3 is the second creation, the physical creation. This habit is where Habits 1 and 2 come together. It happens day in and day out, moment-by-moment. It deals with many of the questions addressed in the field of time management. But that's not all it's about. Habit 3 is about life management as well--your purpose, values, roles, and priorities. What are "first things?" First things are those things you, personally, find of most worth. If you put first things first, you are organizing and managing time and events according to the personal priorities you established in Habit 2.

How can you put first things first to accomplish your goals for 2020?
