Message from the Principal
Dear Central Road Families,
Thank you to all of our families that have completed the 5 Essentials Survey. At this time, 15% of our families have completed the survey. We will receive the results, if at least 20% of our families complete the survey. Ideally, we would like to hear from everyone! The survey results will be visible on the Central Road school report card. We want everyone to think highly of our school. You may take the survey at any time by visiting https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ and selecting the appropriate survey to begin.
Our Lost and Found items will be donated to a local clothing closet over winter break. If your child is missing an item, please encourage them to look for it. Parents are also welcome to come in to Central Road to search for missing items.
On Monday, December 16th students will participate in the Cha Cha Cha: Latin American Dances assembly in the afternoon. Here is some information about the performance, directly from Urban Gateways:
Cha Cha Cha takes a trip through Central and South America, Mexico and the Caribbean, and explores the music and dance of each culture along the way. This show not only features the artistry and energy of Nelson and Paola, but students and teachers will also be integral parts of the journey! Highlights from this music and dance show include explorations and performance of Merengue, Cha Cha Cha, Bachata, and Cumbia. In this show the audience participation comes in two different directions. While a group of students learn how to play instruments for Latin rhythms, another group learns how to dance basic steps of Salsa, Cumbia, Merengue, Cha Cha Cha, and Bachat.
Beginning this month, Central Road will have therapy dogs visit our school once per month. Students will have the opportunity to work with the dogs. A therapy dog is a dog that is trained to provide affection and comfort to students. A few activities your child may be invited to participate in include; reading to the dog, petting the dog or watching the dog do tricks. If your child has allergies or is uncomfortable around dogs, please complete this opt out form that will be sent home in your child’s backpack. An alternative activity will be provided to your student when your child’s class are with the dogs.
A friendly reminder to please thank a staff member at Central Road for everything they do to support your child. Staff members work diligently everyday, to ensure your child receives an excellent education. Expressing gratitude through a few kind words can make someone’s day. Please complete the Thank a Central Road Staff Member Form to share your kind words of thanks.
Let’s make it a great week!
Warmest Regards,
Patti Van Winkle
Principal
