DLD with Erica Thomas and Students!

For Digital Learning Day, Erica's students created their own poems and then chose a visual way to express them digitally. She modeled several different examples involving video, audio, photography, typography and other methods to display and enhance their words. She also provided several websites and tools they could use such as Voice thread, iMovie, Google, Photoshop, etc. Lauren used PowerPoint for her Anymore poem, and Dyllan used Google Slides. Alexis used Google docs for hers.

What's happening in the Farmersville Maker Lab?

After learning about the effects of gravity, Ashley Grimes' students set to work designing their own Marble Wall Maze. After their design was complete, they built their mazes and began the process of testing, taking note of what was happening, discussing where the problems were, and then problem-solving to redesign their work. Each group had a marbleous time!

Trivia TIme!

Have you ever had a great idea for your classroom that you just couldn't figure out how to implement? In an attempt to create a self-scoring Trivia game using Google Forms and Google Sheets with REALLY long formulas, Staci Reese enlisted the help of her personal learning network, Dustin Boyer and Pam O'Risky. Unfortunately, after much work, this still did not yield the desired result. This is when Dustin Boyer made a breakthrough. He handed the challenge over to four boys in his Algebra class, and this, soon referred to as the Brain Team, answered the challenge with formulas that preformed beautifully! They coded the Google Sheet to do all calculations for the competition.

Thanks, Dustin, for remembering that we don't have to have the solutions. Give it to the students and let them run with it.

A.J.Juliani says, "There's power in problem solving, experimenting, and taking things from questions to ideas to authentic products that you can launch to the world."
