Trunk or TreatThanks to our FFO and all of our staff and families that decorated a trunk for our annual “Trunk or Treat” celebration. It was so fun to see all the trunks and the costumes. The students were really hyped up for the event on Friday and they sure seemed to enjoy themselves that evening. The trunks were amazing, so much thought and work went into them. | Stem-a-thonThe STEM-a-thon began this week. Students are enjoying their stem-a-thon activities. Thanks to all the parents that have supported the students with these activities. So far you have raised just under $5000. What a great way to complete Stem activities and get pledges to support our FFO. | Trait for October TeamworkThe 5th graders finished up the month strong working on the teamwork trait. They did a number of activities where they needed to work as a team and they were assigned roles. They did a great job of exhibiting this trait. Way to go 5 th graders. |

DIA DE LOS MEURTOS (Day of the Dead)The 1st graders learned about the history surrounding day of the dead. There was an ofrenda (altar) set up in one of the classrooms to honor loved ones that they have lost. They also typically put their loved ones favorite food and drink on the altar. The first graders ended with a celebration. They drank hot chocolate, had their face painted, made flowers, completed Dia de los Meurtos math, made Calavera masks and completed skull foil painting. Thanks to all that parents that supported and to the 1st grade teachers for the great celebration. | Trait of the monthFor the month of November our trait is empathy. The students will learn about empathy and how to be empathetic throughout the month of November. Ask your child what empathy is. | Mileage ClubI know the staff and students are looking forward to mileage club again tomorrow. |

Know a teacher who deserves to be nominated?
The TOY nomination form is live!
The Teacher of the Year (TOY) program highlights the contributions of Catalina Foothills’ teachers and has the support of the CFSD Foundation. The program annually recognizes two exceptionally skilled and dedicated teachers from a group of 5 Distinguished Educators. Nominees are those who have gained the respect and admiration of students, parents and co-workers, and who inspire learning in students of all backgrounds and abilities. They play an active and useful role in their communities as well as in their schools, distinguishing themselves as leaders.
Since it was such a success last year, nominations will once again be completely online this year at www.cfsdfoundation.org.
