Power Notes--Stay Connected!
February 16, 2024
Vision: At CRMS we create a supportive environment where students achieve academic success, develop life skills, and build confidence for the future!
Our Responsibility
Greetings, Colonel Richardson Middle School families!
I hope this message finds you well. As we quickly move through February, some notes:
Our continued focus on attendance remains paramount, aligning with Maryland's policy on chronic absenteeism. Regular attendance is not only a legal requirement but also a crucial factor in your child's academic success. It lays the foundation for continuous learning and ensures they make the most of their educational opportunities.
Speaking of academics, our commitment to student growth and proficiency remains unwavering. We are dedicated to providing an enriching learning environment that supports both academic excellence and personal development. We will be closely monitoring student progress and implementing targeted interventions to foster growth in areas where improvement is needed.
In the realm of behavioral support, we are actively collaborating with service providers and exploring opportunities to enhance our support staff. Our goal is to create a positive and inclusive school community where every student feels safe, valued, and ready to learn.
Maintaining open lines of communication is essential. Whether it's through email, telephone, or electronically generated notices through PowerSchool, we encourage you to stay engaged in your child's education. Your involvement is key to creating a successful partnership between home and school.
Let's continue to work hand-in-hand, fostering a supportive and enriching environment for our students.
Thank you for your continued partnership.
We wish you well,
Dr. Yolanda Holloway, Principal

Keeping Students Safe on Social Media
February is Child Mental Health Awareness Month
Not at School=Absent
Good attendance for your student begins on the first day of the school year. Consider the following facts:
STUDENTS ARE CONSIDERED CHRONICALLY ABSENT WHEN MISSING 10% OF THE CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR. For example, if a student has been absent 8 days already, he/she is already considered Chronically Absent by the State of Maryland. EXCUSED and UNEXCUSED absences COUNT AS ABSENCES!
Chronic absenteeism may prevent children from reaching early milestones.
Chronically absent students have difficulty keeping up with the pace at which they are expected to learn and grow.
Students who are absent even a day or two every few weeks fall behind their peers.
Irregular attendance can be a better predictor of whether students will drop out before graduation than test scores.
Consistent, on-time attendance is a habit that lasts into adulthood.
CRMS ATTENDANCE FOCUS
Reducing Chronic Absences (absent 10% of days school has been in session)
