All Option 1 Students to Return on November 12
During their October 27 meeting, the School Board unanimously approved Superintendent Dr. Spence’s recommendation to resume in-person instruction for all remaining Option 1 students on November 12 – including those at ATC, Tech Center, GSA and ESP at Brock Center. The schedule for students is as follows:
- High school will bring back all Option 1 students in grades 9-12 with last names starting with “A” through “K” Tuesday and Wednesday each week. These students will continue with remote learning Monday, Thursday and Friday.
- High school will bring back all Option 1 students in grades 9-12 with last names starting with “L” through “Z” Thursday and Friday each week, and they will continue with remote learning Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Option 2 High School students will continue with remote learning Tuesday – Friday.
For Option 1 middle and high school students in grades 7-12 who will return to school two days a week, Monday will continue to be reserved for asynchronous learning, but the remaining two remote days will be used for synchronous (live) learning in each class period.
Transportation & Contact Tracing
In our current climate of contact tracing to help mitigate the spread of COVID, proper accounting of close contacts is critical. Therefore, students will be reminded they have been assigned a seat to sit in each day they ride the bus. This seat location is not open for discussion by a parent and can only be adjusted in consultation with the bus driver and a school administrator. Students who fail to comply with the seat requirement are subject to Rule 8, Insubordination, in the Student Code of Conduct.
Yearbook pictures for ALL FACE TO FACE students currently in the building will take place in the auditorium on Tuesday, November 10. These students will be scheduled for pictures through one of their classes or during their lunch. It is preferred to order pictures online (the attached flyers provide that information).
If your child is unable to be here on November 10, then we will have a picture makeup day on Monday, November 30. Information will come out later for makeup day.
Our counselors will be presenting info to parents to assist in the college application process on Monday, November 9th at 6 p.m.
Heritage Week 2020
We are excited to introduce the theme of this year’s Heritage Week and 20 Year Anniversary. “The Power Of Us,” embodies the fact that Landstown has not been built upon the work of one individual. Our school has become what it is today thanks to the many contributions from our students, staff, and community. The week will feature a variety of activities, competitions, speakers, and charitable acts that embrace our theme.
During Heritage Week, we will have speakers that are either LHS Alumni or connected to LHS, sharing their stories about how they have achieved their dreams and overcame obstacles by working alongside others. Teachers will have the opportunity to sign up their class to be part of these sessions.
The week will be wrapped up by nationally known motivational speaker, Shaun Derik. This will take place on Friday November 20th during a schoolwide broadcast.
