Joann Rowling was born on July 31, 1965 in Yate, United Kingdom. Having somewhat of a difficult childhood with her mother having Multiple Sclerosis, and her having a rough relationship with her father. After her divorce to her first husband, Rowling was living off of welfare while raising her first daughter, Jessica. She would write Harry Potter in cafes late at night. Rowling was also diagnosed with depression, which would be her inspiration for dementors.
