READING IS THE THING
“Time to read books of their own choosing, for their own purposes, and without having to prove that comprehension has occurred remains significant in the ongoing development of independent readers” (Johnson & Giorgis, 780). As educators and given the demands upon our students within and outside of the school walls, it is imperative that we ask ourselves:
“How, when and where do we provide this for our boys?” How do we provide opportunities for reading and give our students permission to revel in this “unconscious delight” of reading pleasurably?
