All Things SLI
Silver Lake Intermediate Sept 10, 2021
SLI Families:
Our start to the school continues to be great. The weather has been great. The students have been doing their best to demonstrate their #CyclonePride. Today, we had a PBIS (positive behavior/school culture) assembly to kick off the year. Students engaged in a hoop, hop, showdown, watched a video that focused on creating a sense of belonging, and a get to know support staff at SLI activity from Character Strong called Deck of Destiny. Check out the awesome pictures in this S'more or on our Facebook page.
Thank you for continuing to support your child and our school. Every day is a chance to face the challenges placed in our path, and every day I see our teachers and staff conquering those challenges with a passion to be the best we can be for our students. Please do not hesitate to reach out to our school and staff for support and help in making sure your child is thriving at SLI.
All my best,
Jill Marr

Student Services News & Supports
Amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic, mental health and well-being has become a serious concern for many. We have begun this year at SLI by being very intentional about creating safety and building relationships with our students. One of the best ways to support student’s mental health is through social connectedness. Research shows that social connectedness boosts resilience and reduces suicidal ideation and behavior. As parents, it is also important to be knowledgeable about suicide risks in adolescents, now more than ever. Suicide is the second most common cause of death after car accidents for Wisconsin youth. The rate of suicide among youth has been steadily climbing since 2008. This is a serious, but preventable issue. Please take some time to review the resources that are available.
