Principal's Pen

Dear Bishop Baraga Trekkers,

We made it! Bring on the warm weather, sprinklers, and summer fun. After a long year, summer break is almost here.

In this last edition of the Trekker Times for this school year I would like to thank all those who have made this year a success: Parents and Families - for entrusting your children to us and supporting us in their education; Teachers - for your hard work and dedication every day; Office and Custodial Staff - for keeping everything running smoothly, especially with this year's particular demands; Volunteers - for the gift of your time and talent; Our Donors and Benefactors - for making it possible for us to educate our students; Our Pastors - for providing support in many ways, but especially for providing the sacraments for our students. The effort put forth by all of you made this year a great one. You are appreciated!

I pray that everyone has lots of fun and rest over the summer. I would also suggest trying to make reading and/or math a part of your child's summer. I know one of my own favorite childhood memories is my mother reading chapter books to us over summer vacation. You can also take advantage of the many program the library offers. Check with your classroom teacher if you need suggestions or materials to work on math.

We have our closing Mass this Friday at 8:00 a.m. We encourage parents to attend this special event. Following Mass we will have an awards ceremony in the church and each teacher and I will present a few awards to the students in various classes. After Mass we will head back to the school and celebrate a wonderful year with a treat and time to visit and play outside. If it is raining we will head inside for the treat. At 10:00 a.m. we will start dismissal. Parents who attend the Mass, awards ceremony, and outdoor celebration will be able to sign their children out with their classroom teacher prior to the 10:00 a.m. dismissal. Call or email us with any questions.

Our Caught Being a Christian Award this week goes to Skyla Coursen. Skyla volunteered to play a boardgame with one classmate when no one else would and she helped Mateo put things away on the day he hurt his arm. She was practicing the virtue of kindness. Great job, Skyla!

Have a wonderful week and God bless,

Angela Oller

Monday Mailer Going Home on Thursday

The Monday Mailer will be going home on Thursday this week. This give the teachers time to take grades this week and get the report cards completed. So, look for report cards this Thursday in the Monday Mailer. Please keep the report cards and return the Monday Mailer envelope to school on Friday.

Congratulations, Hayden Skoglund!

We would like to say a special congratulations to Hayden Skoglund, one of our 8th grade graduates. He was baptized on Thursday, about 45 minutes before our graduation Mass. Thank you to his family and friends who attended and especially to Father Janusz, who bapitized him. Below you can see Father Janusz, Hayden, and Father Michael.

Kindergarten STEM Activities

The kindergarten had some fun STEM activities this week. They had to estimate how many objects it would take to make a small cup float in the water without sinking.

Yearbooks

The deadline to order the yearbook online was last week, however, we do order extra copies of the yearbook that can be purchased in the office for $13. Please let Mary Steinbrecher know if you are interested. Yearbooks will be delivered at the end of July, and we will contact you when they are ready to be picked up.

3rd Grade Plays

This week the third graders wrote and produced a few plays to share with their class. Below you can see Sarah and Evie performing theirs.
