Community School update:
Programming -
- Young Chefs and Extreme Science started this week! The kids loved them. And the college students had so much fun.
- I have a St. Olaf volunteer, Maggie, starting on Tuesdays after school. She is awesome!
- Mark your calendars!
- October 25th at 5:30 - Nostalgia Night
- November 1st at 6:00 - Schoology/IC/Parent Portal night (Kelly - I think we might have more parents, especially of younger kids, if it starts at 6)
- November 13th at 6:30 - RCPH presents on youth e-cig use
- Northfield Community School is also visiting this day
- November 15th at 6:30 - FHS presenting college info
- I'll have all this information on a handout for parents at conferences
- Brian Coleman and I are working on starting a Career Club. It would consist of speakers talking about their careers with some hands-on activity.
- I'm meeting with Brent, April, and Heidi about collaborating with Falcons for Change. If we can do the sewing and knitting clubs, students could earn hours. We are also thinking about a monthly service project.
- I'm working with the PE dept., Mike, and Becky to start a morning soccer club. I'll send updates as soon as I have them.
- Kelly and I are going to start working on team dinners. Hopefully, we will be visiting CPTs soon!
- CitySpan updates: 92 kids have come to Community School at least once! I'm going to start reaching out to the kids who came but stopped. 27 kids have come 6 or more times and 7 kids are one day away from reaching six times. My goal is to have 50 kids come 6 or more times by Thanksgiving break - I'm halfway there!
- After MEA, Community School will start meeting in the cafeteria. Mike and I will coordinate around the Wednesday staff meetings.
- I'm waiting to hear back about a flu clinic through RCPH. Hopefully, that will be in November!
- Mike and Kelly - Can you continue to add the homework help times in your newsletters?
- Mondays: 3-4:30pm
- Tuesdays: 7-7:30am, 3-4:30pm, and 5:30-7:30pm
- Wednesdays: Nothing yet
- Thursdays: 7-7:30am, 3-4:30pm, and 5:30-7:30pm
