A Note from the Principal
Dear Parents,
We had an amazing first All Abilities Day yesterday! All of our students got a first-hand experience of the challenges of those living with a disability. Thank you, Holly Collinsworth, Specials teachers, and all parents that came out to help. PTA does so much for our school!
We have one more week to collect Pennies for Patients. The amount raised so far is beyond our expectation!
Book Fair
Fun events never stop at Skaggs! Next week is our spring book fair week. We hope to see you joining your child for lunch and shopping for books next Wednesday. Come out on Thursday night for a great music performance by first grade. Book Fair (library) will be opened 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday.

STAAR Tests
STAAR tests for 4th and 5th graders will be on April 9th and 10th. Thank you, in advance, for not scheduling doctor appointments on these days. No visitors will be allowed into the building during the week of April 9th, so please plan accordingly if you were thinking about joining your child for lunch. We appreciate your understanding as this is due to the high security levels of STAAR testing.
Breakfast
We are pleased to share with you that we will start serving breakfast, effective April 15th. The serving time will begin at 7:15 am. If your child is eating breakfast at school, please have them enter the building as early as possible. The gym door opens at 7:00 am.

Pennies for Patients
Skaggs Student Council (with the help of PTA) is partnering with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (the world’s largest non-profit health organization dedicated to finding cures for blood cancers.) Your child participated in a kick off assembly where they learned about blood cancers and how we can make a huge impact! This makes great dinner time or car conversation!
From March 18th- April 5th we will be collecting coins and dollars for the LLS! Your child was given a special collection box to fill as many times as they can or you can help by donating online too by going to www.PenniesForPatients.org/find-your-school. Search Skaggs by entering typing in the box and clicking FIND.
Select “Join Classroom Team” from the side bar and search for our classroom. Create a new account, or if you have ever had a fundraising page for LLS, sign in with your username and password. Create your child’s online fundraising page. Once created, share the link to your child’s online fundraising page with friends, family and coworkers through email and social media.
There are fun, special prizes that your child can earn for raising money too. Refer to your child’s teacher email that came on Monday for details.
Tips for Parents for Online Safety
· Have general discussions about things your child may have seen online.
· Explain that many things that happen online can be misleading or frightening.
· Encourage your child to tell a trusted adult if they see something online or on social media that is scary or hurtful.
· Make sure your child knows that it is not okay to communicate with or follow directions from strangers online.
· Never reveal personal information, such as address, phone number, or school name/location.
· Spend time online together to teach your child appropriate online behavior.
· Keep the computer in a common area where you can watch and monitor its use and monitor time spent on smartphones or tablets.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s counselor.
