Toreador Tickets

Little Toreadors had their first all school assembly about Toreador Tickets! They can earn them for cooperation, assertiveness, responsibility, empathy, and self control.

Students from Page Elementary got to do a variety of fun academic activities last week! They did STEM building stations, patterns, and geometry shapes to build, reading around the room, BINGO, and a story and craft. Students were able to travel to different rooms and learn from different teachers. The kids did a great job and really enjoyed the day.

The week of November 15th was national apprenticeship week. Iowa Workforce Development highlighted Missouri Valley Lineman in one of their episodes. Missouri Valley has been a favorite tour spot for our students two years in a row. This career has high earning potential right off the bat.

Here's the episode: Episode 67 – Line it up! The Missouri Valley Line Constructors Apprenticeship and Training Program

https://missionemployable.libsyn.com/episode-67-line-it...

Our celebration of National Apprenticeship Week continues as host Ryan West sits down with Lead Instructor Tim Vassios of the Missouri Valley Line Constructors Apprenticeship and Training Program. Take a deep dive into the program that teaches electrical line workers the tools of the trade. Learn how to get started as a Lineman and to how much money you could earn after finishing a Registered Apprenticeship program in the field. The Hooper Scoopers are back for the 2021-2022 DMACC Men's Basketball Season!

Your defending National Champion DMACC Bears would like to invite all 2nd - 8th grade students to sign up for the chance to be a Ball Boy/Girl for the Men's Basketball Team. There will be an opportunity for 4 students to participate at each home game. Each participant will receive a t-shirt to wear during the game that they will get to keep. They will also receive free entry into the game along with 4 passes for family/friends to get into that same game. Please arrive at each game 20 minutes (times on sign up reflect this adjustment) before tip off to receive t-shirt and instructions. We will meet in the upstairs weight-room, above the gymnasium. Finally, a parent/guardian must be present with each participant.

Pease sign up early as we anticipate this being a popular opportunity, and space is limited! Limit two games per student per season. When signing up, please be sure to include the school, grade, and shirt size (Youth Medium - Adult Large) of the participant. Go Bears!!!

Free School Breakfast and Lunch for all Students for the 2021-2022 school year

Tasty Toreador Meals - Supply Chain Issues

• This school year, thanks to federal pandemic waivers, all students will be eligible for free meals, regardless of family income.

• School meal programs nationwide are experiencing many of the same supply chain issues that have impacted restaurants and grocery stores throughout the pandemic.

• Our school nutrition team is committed to ensuring students continue to have access to healthy meals each school day.

• Just as families have to make substitutions on grocery lists, schools will have to make some last-minute changes to our regular menus, based on availability.

• We hope parents and students will be patient as we sort through these supply chain issues.

• We may not have the same menu choices that we typically offer our students, but we’ll be sure that all students are nourished and ready to learn.

*Reminder: For students bringing a sack lunch and wanting school milk, there will be a .50 cent charge per carton.

CONTACTING FOOD SERVICE

For questions regarding food service and accounts please contact the Food Service department located at Boone Middle School- Lori King, Director, (515) 433-0020 EXT 154.

High School Activities

Athletics Registration

Toreador Families,

Our "Online Athletics Registration" is live and active for the 2021-22 School Year (link is below). Please take the time to read through the information, and fill out the forms for your student. All students involved in District-Sponsored Athletics in grades 7-12 will need a completed online athletics registration on file, along with a current physical form (physicals are valid for 13 months after the date of the physical). There is a place within the registration to upload the completed physical form.

Completion of the Registration/Physical is not required for the attendance at any summer camps that may be offered. However, the Athletics Registration and Physical Form must be completed and on file before a student may physically participate in practice this Fall. For High School, this starting date is Monday August 9th. Middle School practices will begin a couple weeks later near the first day of school.
