Cockrell Champions! Happy Thursday!

Well, I have been formally initiated. I finally got to experience the PHS Homecoming Parade. Wow. I’ll leave it at that! I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful weekend celebrating our Prosper community.

As we enter into the end of September, it is important that you know that I spent time this week re-reading the survey responses that I received from so many of you back in July. I wanted to review them as a benchmark formative assessment for myself as a leader. I asked myself, “How are we improving in the area of…?” and “Have I looked into this yet?” as well as “How can we do better for our kids so that they are set up for a successful today and tomorrow?” and the most important question I should be asking myself, which is, “How are my leadership behaviors positively impacting our children?”

As a faculty we are working diligently to dive into social-emotional learning best practices and academic best practices to engage and challenge our learners. Please know that your feedback and insight into your child is of utmost importance to us, and I will make it a priority to continue to ask for feedback through formal and informal measures. The #1 most important and influential person in this school besides your child is his or her teacher. My vision is that our connections between our teachers and students are so strong that it motivates them to learn more and more each day.

Thank you for what you do each day as the parents. And, Sic ‘Em Bears. We are #1 in the Big 12, by the way.

See you tonight at Chick-Fil-A!

  • Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night is tonight from 5:00-8:00! Yum!

  • WatchDog informational meeting is this evening at 6:30 in the Cockrell Cafe!

  • Prosper Spirit Wear tomorrow for Homecoming Week! Tell your child!

  • Also, please consider allowing your child to wear purple or including it in your Prosper gear tomorrow as we support Makayla Noble, PHS Cheerleader. Some of our staff has connections to her and her family, and a parent who emailed me about it said it best when she said, “I do not know this young lady or her family, but I do know that Cockrell is proud of having good character and this seems like a perfect opportunity to display this.” Hit the nail on the head! If you need further information about the incident, please look here.

  • We are so excited about our first Parent Ambassador Tour at Cockrell next Wednesday, September 29th, from 9:00-9:30! Please see the flyer below for more information and to sign up if you are interested!

  • Please see the flyer below for Prosper ISD's Family Resource Center's Grand Opening on October 12th from 3-7 pm. What a wonderful opportunity and resource this is for our families and community, and I will be there to celebrate the opening as well! I hope to see you there.

  • If you would like to order your child’s school picture, please go to Lifetouch’s website right here. Use code SHIPFREEF21.

  • Your child’s teacher will be reaching out to you soon regarding scheduling your Parent/Teacher Conference during the month of October. THe goal for this time is that you receive feedback on your child’s current areas of strength and areas for growth as a whole child- both socially/emotionally and academically. Together, we support their continued progress!

  • I have heard from a few of you regarding frustrations with lunch orders for your child through our cafeteria. First of all, I apologize for inconveniences in that area. I have spoken with the district and we are working together to ensure that our kids receive the correct order and have options for their lunch if they are not mobile ordering. Please reach out to me if you have any concerns moving forward.

  • Please send all doctor/dentist notes to the following email address:

  • Remember, if you would like to join your child for lunch you can sign up using our Cockrell Lunch Sign Up Genius linked here. At this time, all visitor lunches will be picnic-style outside! We are limiting visitors to 10 slots per grade level per lunch. You will still follow all security expectations and will check in with Elvia at the front office prior to eating lunch with your child.

  • Do you want to have a special treat for your child at school for their birthday? Now you can! Under the parents tab on the Cockrell website, you will find an order form and contact information to send the form. Forms must be received at least two weeks prior to the "need by" date.

  • Part of telling our story is highlighting it for others. If you haven’t already, please follow us on social media so we can tell our story to the community *Twitter:@CockrellChamps #HouseofChampions *Facebook: Cockrell Elementary School (@PISDCockrellElem)

Remember, excellence is not an act, but a habit.

We are here for you. Have a wonderful day!

Thank you,

Ms. Gasmire

Raise Craze Closing Celebration - Cockrell Kindness Splash Bash!

We are VERY excited to celebrate the success of Raise Craze with our Cockrell Kindness Splash Bash this coming Monday, September 27th.

Parents! We would love your help supervising our inflatables. Please sign-up here!

On Monday, please have your child wear a swimsuit with a t-shirt and shorts over. Please note that your child will likely get muddy. Then bring a change of clothes to change into and a bag to put wet clothes in. Don’t forget a towel and sunscreen!

Each grade level will have approximately 50 minutes to spend outside, celebrating the fun. We will be following the Special’s schedule:

2nd Grade: 8:20am - 9:15am

4th Grade: 9:20am - 10:15am

3rd Grade: 10:20am - 11:15am

5th Grade: 11:20am - 12:15pm

Kinder: 12:20pm - 1:15pm

1st Grade: 1:20pm - 2:45pm

If you’d like to follow and watch your child enjoy the Splash Bash activities, we would love for you to volunteer during a different grade level’s time slot. Or volunteer at a station and watch your child at the same time. Whatever is your preference.

Please reach out to the Raise Craze Committee with any questions!

What is it?

Cockrell Parents, Faculty & Staff,

Welcome to our Raise Craze fundraiser! This is a unique way for us to raise money for our school while making an impact in our community. During this fundraiser, students ask friends and family for donations via the online Raise Craze platform while paying it forward serving others. What a great way for us to teach our students the importance of kindness and gratitude while raising much needed funds. Students will spend time serving, not selling!

Registration Link:

1. Enter your student’s name

2. Select at least 3 Acts of Kindness

3. Enter 5-10 email addresses of potential supporters. Raise Craze will send all emails, reminders and thank you notes. Emails will never be shared with third parties or used for marketing.

At A Glance:

Dates: September 7 - September 24

Our Goal: $70,000

Every student can participate in Raise Craze by completing Acts of Kindness (AOK) so we’re aiming for 100% participation.
