NCVPS Latin 1 Bulletin

Week 1

Salvete, parentes! [Hello, parents!]

My name is Richard Cartwright, and I will be teaching Latin 1 online for the North Carolina Virtual Public School (NCVPS) this semester. Each week I will be sending a short Latin bulletin to each of my families--I hope you find it informative and useful. I will let you know what students are expected to accomplish each week, and it will be an easy way for you to communicate with me when needed.

Richard Cartwright, M.Ed., NBCT

My office hours are Monday through Wednesday, from 7-8 pm. On Thursday nights I hold a Live Class (online) from 7-8 pm. Attendance is mandatory, but students may watch a recorded (archived) version if necessary. Please feel free to call me if you have any questions or concerns.

Special Observer Account for PARENTS!

Parents are now able to create and Observer Account. Find a video with more details HERE. Detailed instructions, including screenshots, for signing up for an Observer Account is accessible by clicking HERE. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the sign-up process or run into any technical difficulties, please contact the NCVPS Help Desk.

Canvas App for Parents

Parents can now download the CanvasParent app in both the iTunes and Google Play stores.

Parents will need student login information to set up their parent accounts. This will have to come from the school. NCVPS cannot supply login credentials to parents or facilitators. Check with your school's e-learning advisor (ELA).

The Canvas Parent app is designed to provide visibility into a student's progress at a glance. Canvas Parent allows both parents and facilitators to:

  • View assignment descriptions and due dates
  • Set reminders for assignments
  • View assignment grades
  • View course grades
  • Set grade alerts
  • View course announcements
