Start preparing for the Faculty Holiday Luncheon!
PTSA will be providing lunch for our annual Staff Holiday Luncheon, and many booster clubs are providing prizes. There will be lots to give away.
In addition, we will have a contest each lunch for best holiday outfit and also pick best team outfit overall. We encourage tacky holiday sweaters, at the very least. Below are some inspiring images to get your creativity flowing.
The 2018 Winning Team: counseling!
The Holiday Season
From ESL
The ESL department has created a Google classroom to facilitate communication. Strategies, resources, and information about forms will be posted there. One of our campus goals is to increase student performance on TELPAS and strategies to support this goal are also posted there. The code is 1z2svw.
From the Nurse
Flu season is among us! According to the CDC, people with the flu may be able to infect others from 1 day before showing symptoms to 7 days after. Additionally, children and other vulnerable populations may continue to be contagious past 7 days of illness, especially if they still have symptoms. This is the reason why we say stay home even after the fever is gone. The flu comes with many complications and can turn dangerous quickly so, wash your hands, get your flu shot, and PLEASE see a doctor if you are feeling symptoms come on (high fever, body aches, fatigue).
Regarding Open Records and Texting
All staff who use text messaging to communicate with other staff members will need to download the Microsoft Teams app on their smartphones. The following link will take you to the installation instructions: http://www.pisd.edu/msteams .
After downloading the app, follow the instructions to log in using the same network credentials that you use to log in to your Plano ISD email. Once you have logged in, you will have the ability to chat/text with other staff members who also have the app. The new Microsoft Teams app will look and act like your current text messaging app with the same notifications, but is launched by a different icon on your phone.
Expectations:
The use of the Microsoft Teams application is an expectation for ALL employees when texting messages related to the business of PISD.
For employees receiving a stipend for cell communications, we are mandating that all communication that used to be conducted via text messaging be converted over to Microsoft Teams when discussing business related items. If district business cannot be conducted via Microsoft Teams, then district e-mail shall be used to communicate.
As for employees that do not receive a stipend, instant communication can be added to their desktop and Chromebook as the service is available in multiple platforms. Should these employees choose to use their personal phone they can do so but we now require that all district business texts be converted over to Microsoft Teams. If district business cannot be conducted via Microsoft Teams, then district e-mail shall be used to communicate.
Since the law was enacted in September of 2019, we need everyone to review their practices and adjust their processes as soon as possible.
Professional Learning for '19-'20
Opportunities for professional and collegial learning and growth may be found by clicking on the link below which takes you to all kinds of information. (This is the same Google Sheet Coryn shared with you last Friday.)
Be sure to note that one of the options includes being a part of the Plano 2025 discussions through various sub committees. Please consider being a part of envisioning Plano Senior High's future!
