NAEYC News
As you know our program recently had a verification visit from NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children). We have received the results of that visit and I am proud to share with you that w were able to demonstrate competency in over 90% of the criteria. In order to maintain accreditation a program must meet 70%. Meeting 90% and more is a definite reason for celebration!
CAPT News
Our CAPT needs your help in order to continue to organize events that support our school. they have many ideas and need you to help implement. Consider attending the next CAPT meeting on November 12th at 6:00. Many hands make light work!
SMILE Award
As you enter our school you may have noticed our new SMILE Award posted in the hallway. Each week staff nominate other staff members for this award and one is chosen each week for display. This week Miss Caitlyn, one of our ABA tutors won. Take a look next time you are in and learn more about her.
Fun with Pumpkins
Next week we will focus our fall unit on pumpkins. The children will be learning about the life cycle of a pumpkin and what is inside. They will experiment with rolling a pumpkin as well.
We are looking forward to our learning next week. We are also learning about an author who is famous for creating pumpkins from dots! be sure to ask about it.
Halloween
Halloween is next Thursday. We know this can be a fun filled time for some children and their families. However, some of our families do not celebrate Halloween and some of our friends can be frightened by unexpected costumes. For those reasons, we don't celebrate Halloween at the Rodman. We ask that you not send your child to school in a costume next week. We will have plenty of fun days at school throughout the year that are inclusive and accessible to all of our friends and their families.
Reminders
Next Wednesday, October 30th is an early release. The children will be dismissed at 11:35. There is no school on Tuesday, November 5th. Teachers will be participating in professional development on this day.
