2018-2019 Registration Update

Counselors have been busy meeting with students to complete registration forms for the 2018-2019 school year. Next steps include: tally course request numbers, making staffing decisions and building next year's schedules. Students will receive their courses this summer. Current juniors will meet with school counselors one-on-one to finalize senior schedules in April. It's important that juniors research potential college admission requirements so we can ensure they will be enrolled in needed courses.

$$$ Scholarships- Deadlines Approaching

There are lots of opportunities for students to get money to help pay for college. A scholarship database for those opportunities is available for seniors and a separate for juniors. These can be found on the counseling department webpage on the right hand side. Applications are available in the school counselors office or by clicking the link in the database. It is the STUDENT'S responsibility to research scholarships they are eligible for and complete the applications on time.

SWIC Dual Credit

Some courses at HHS allow students to earn credit at SouthWestern Illinois College- this does not mean that a student has to go there- only they have credit that may transfer. For additional information please check: http://www.swic.edu/dual-credit/

SLU 1818 Dual Credit

AP Chemistry and AP Language and Composition give students additional opportunities for college credit. Students may choose to enroll in the SLU 1818 dual credit program and pay for SLU college credit for these courses. This credit may transfer to other institutions. Students in these courses may also chose to take the AP college board exam in May to earn credit as well.
