Challenge Prep Charter School
Weekly Memo September 12-September 16, 2016
Planning and Preparation
Over the course of the past two weeks we focused on creating a classroom environment for learning. We focused on Domain 2 of the Danielson. Over the next two weeks, we will focus on Domain 1: Planning and Preparation. During your Professional Learning Communities ( PLC's) we will be working with one another developing effective lesson plans, reflecting on our practice and using data to drive instruction.
For those of you present during the 8 day professional development, Lea our Waggle trainer came to train you on the program we will use to help differentiate. Lea will meet with the Lead teachers in grade 2-5 TOMORROW morning. You will meet from 8:30-11:00 am. Please have your lessons ready for whomever will cover your class. Waggle is a NON-NEGOTIABLE item we will use to drive differentiated instruction. It must be evident in your lesson plans beginning on September 23, 2016.
NWEA- Next week we have a chance to create a CUSTOMIZED INDIVIDUAL LEARNING PLAN for every scholar by completing the NWEA. The NWEA is an assessment that measures scholars abilities in reading, language arts and math. The assessment is adaptive and takes up too 50 minutes to complete. Please make sure all scholars have headphones in order to effectively complete the assessment. The window is September 19-September 29, 2016.
Fountas and Pinnell- The window for testing will open next week. For those who are not familiar with F&P's, please contact Ms. Thomas by emailing her.
Dress Code- Challenge Preparatory is a professional place of business. Please make sure you are business casually dressed each day unless stated otherwise by the principal.
Busing- Thank you everyone for making the transition of busing a smooth one. We are almost at 100% perfection! To help I want to remind all bus monitors to take attendance when you pick up scholars as well as AFTER you place them on the bus.
Assembly- Next week, Mrs. Hawkins, along with the Guidance Counselor and Social Worker will host our first Assembly. Details will follow.
*****Please refer to the Instructional Handbook first, if you have any questions regarding bulletin boards, curriculum, Danielson, lesson plans, etc.
Thank you everyone for your time, effort and patience as we continue to ride the wave!
Have a great week!
