School Advisory Council
The School Advisory Council (SAC) includes elected faculty, staff, parents and community members. They help develop Jupiter Elementary School accountability plan. SAC members also make school based decisions affecting the School Improvement Plan and attend SAC meetings monthly. This is a great way for parents to be involved in their child’s education. Physical Education
Hello Jupiter Families!
My name is Mr. Mecum. I am the physical education teacher at Jupiter. This is my 33rd year of teaching physical education. 25 of those years have been right here at Jupiter. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone back for another great year of Physical Education at Jupiter! I hope everyone had a wonderful summer full of swimming, outdoor activity and family fun.
This year I’m planning a year of healthy fun activities. Parents, please check with your child and make sure they know what day their PE activity day(s) is so that they wear the correct PE shoes in order to participate in class. Sandals, flip-flops and heels are shoes not to wear on PE days. This is for the safety of the student. Thank you, I appreciate your support in this matter.
Students are permitted to bring a water bottle to class. Water is the only beverage I allow since we are outside, and any type of sweet drink will attract bugs and cause our court space to be subject to messy, sticky spills. Water is the most easily absorbed fluid, and in these hot August days, it is the best thing to drink.
In October, when the weather gets cooler, I will be starting a Morning Mile Club. Students in Grades 1st-6th can meet me in the morning and run as many laps as they can from 7:30am – 7:50am. For every 5 miles completed, a student will receive a certificate and a morning mile token for their accomplishment. After the New Year, I will be opening the club up to kindergartners.
