Possible STEM/STEAM Partnership with KAPs School in Uganda:
This week I introduced our students to a School Administrator from Uganda. For about the last year, Columbia, East, and Wiggin Street Elementary have been working together to establish a partnership with KAPs School (CLICK HERE TO VIEW THEIR WEBSITE). The vision of this partnership would be for our schools to collaborate on different Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math projects. This will continue to be a work in progress, but we feel like we have a lot to learn from each other. It will also provide all students a better sense of global awareness.

PTO Holiday Shop-December 13th:
Wiggin St. Holiday Shop is just around the corner and we are excited!! Each year, your child has a chance to do some Holiday Shopping from local vendors right here at school on Friday morning, December 13th!
Envelopes will be sent home Tuesday, December 10th for you to fill out with your child's name, classroom teacher, and a listing of who they may be shopping for. You may send the envelope back to school the very next day, along with cash only for your child to purchase gifts. On Friday, December 13th, your child's teacher will hand out the envelopes and along with volunteers, the kids will shop.
This year's vendors offer quite a selection of goods: Embroidery, jewelry, paint your own ornaments, already made ornaments, fudge, different types of mustard, soaps and candy. These are only a few of the items that will be offered.
Parents may help their child shop from 8:30-8:55am or from 12:00-12:30pm.
If your child chooses to paint their own ornament, the ornament won't be sent home until Monday, December 16th. We will send a receipt home on the day of the Holiday Shop stating your child purchased an ornament but due to drying times, the ornament won't be dry until after school is over.
We have plenty of volunteers for the Holiday Shop, and we are very excited to help these wonderful children find the perfect gifts for their friends and families. It is an experience they won't forget.
All items will cost $5 or less.
