Grant Weekly Bulletin 11.29.2021
We hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and break!
For the month of December and it actually starts when we return on November 29, we are going to have a Spirit Month for staff and students that include jeans and/or sweat depending on what students want to wear that including a spirit wear a top (the December is JeanEMBER PDF below gives you all the details). This is free and 100% optional. We wanted to have some fun and spread joy throughout the month of December.
December's Community with Character element is empathy. Empathy is the ability to emotionally understand what other people feel, see things from their point of view, and imagine yourself in their place. Essentially, it is putting yourself in someone else's position and feeling what they are feeling. Our teachers weave this into their morning meetings or circle time daily. It truly helps our students understand what others may be going through.
It is beginning to get cold outside and our students take 2 recesses a day. We go outside unless the temperature is 15 degrees or below. That is our LPS district policy and we use Accuweather to determine this. So be sure to dress your child accordingly to the temperature each day. We want our kids to be able to go outside and blow off energy yet be warm too.
It's another big football game between Ohio State and Michigan this weekend. You all saw the outcome of the MSU vs. OSU game last weekend, it was not pretty for you Sparty fans. I was very proud of our Buckeyes! I had a friend visit me this week in my office as I am quite outnumbered again! anyways, it made for a fun week at Grant for our students seeing all the UM stuff displayed in our building. I had many students ask me, "Mrs. Mazzoni what does OSU stand for," it gave me many laughs. Thanks, Ms. Mulketin for all the UM Displays and Blowups.
Please continue to check the livoniapublicschools.org website for bus cancellations each week. It can be found under the announcement section for each week. Have a wonderful weekend!

Blessings in a Backpack-Livonia
Blessings in a Backpack-Livonia is an all-volunteer program designed to provide students who are in need, with enough food for three meals a day during the weekends. If you participate in this program, your child will receive a bag at the end of every week of school (Thursday or Friday), filled with non-perishable food for the weekend. There is no cost to you for participating in this program. No further information is required. Your information will not be shared. If you would like to have your child participate in this program, fill out and submit the form using the link below as soon as possible. We are requesting your name and email address so that a confirmation of registration will be emailed to you.
If your child participated in the program last year we do need a new enrollment form for this school year.
Currently, we are providing prepackaged bags so we are unable to customize for allergies or religious dietary needs. We apologize for any inconvenience.
****You will need to complete a separate form for each child that you wish to enroll.****

To our Grant Community,
It has definitely been a tough couple of years with the pandemic. I know that many of us have been hit financially and could use a little support to get through. We have a local organization that reached out to help some of our families for Thanksgiving this year and/or during the winter holiday season. If you could use some additional support during the holidays, please send me an email so we can help you out! It is all confidential: email@example.com
Thank you and hope we can make your holidays a little easier.

UPDATE: Mitigation Measures for 2021-22
Good Afternoon LPS Families,
As you may have read or heard in the news today, the Wayne County Department of Health, Human & Veteran Services issued an Emergency Order to Control the Pandemic which applies to all educational settings/schools within Wayne County.
Per today's issuance of this order, which includes a mask mandate for all persons in an educational setting, the district has updated our 2021-22 Mitigation Measures information as required by this mandate.
Please see attached for this important update.
As we continue our mitigation efforts and based on the mask mandate from Wayne County Health Department all staff and students will be wearing masks while in the building. It is also imperative that you take the time in the morning to complete the health screener prior to sending your children to school. If your child is not feeling well please err on the side of caution and keep them home for their safety and the safety of others. Click here to access the Health Screener
