A Note From Mrs. Mathe

Our first full week together this school year has been a complete joy! You should be so proud of your Powell Panther. They have worked really hard to learn new routines, make new friends and adjust back to school expectations. Our classrooms are engaged as if they never left for summer!

As we enter into a new school year, I want to remind our families to be respectful to our neighbors. Parking in the surrounding neighborhoods and walking to school is discouraged. We have received many complaints over this first week of school regarding parents parking along the curb in Cochran's Green and in the Amberglow neighborhood then walking to school. This is blocking emergency vehicles, trash men, and residents from accessing their homes. We ask that the only students that are bikers and walkers are Powell families that live within 1 mile of the school and do not qualify for bus service. I appreciate your help in this matter. We want to be good neighbors to our surrounding communities.

Cafeteria Update

The meal menus are posted on the Powell website monthly to allow you to review menu choices. Please review meal options with your child if they plan to purchase breakfast or lunch. The cafeteria is no longer able to alter the meals to meet children's specific food preferences. If your child has food allergies, the cafeteria requires doctor's documentation to accommodate allergies. The link to the form can be found on the Child Nutrition website under "Special Diets". If you have any questions, you may contact our cafeteria manager, Keandra Glass at kglass@conroeisd.net.

Viewing Campus Accountability Ratings

Starting on August 15th, you will be able to view the Texas Education Agency rating for our school, plus much more, by visiting TXschools.gov. You will also be able to search for schools using our address and compare our school to others. To learn more about Powell, your child’s STAAR performance, and how to use this information, please visit TXschools.gov. We’re excited about the start of another great year!

Access to Instructional Resources

Furthering the educational partnership between parents and the District and in compliance with SB 3, parents can login to their student’s learning management system (Canvas) and access electronic instructional materials through the SSO. To obtain your student’s login information, log in to Parent Access Center and view your student’s credentials in the section Student Username/Password. Please note that students in grades 7-12 have the ability to change their password. Please check with your child as appropriate.

Parent Acces Center

Parent Access Center (PAC) is the CISD system for parents which provides online access to all your child’s class assignments, assignment grades, test grades, as well as attendance, discipline, progress reports, and report cards. If you currently have a Parent Access Center account, there is no need to renew your account as you have had to do in previous years. Parents can register for a PAC account from the Conroe ISD home page under the Student/Parent link. Student data will not be available until school begins.
