SPRING RIDGE ES FRIDAY FLYER

Smore News for Your Weekend...

Staff,

As we come close to the end of the first quarter, we have several happenings coming up around the school and in our SRES community:

The PTA is sponsoring three upcoming events: Walk-A-About (October 20) , Fall Book Fair (October 24-28. Hours will be 8:45am until 4 pm each day, with evening hours on Wednesday October 26 (6-8pm). There will be a Breakfast with Books on Friday, October 30 from 8:30-9:15am), and our WATCH D.O.G.S. program on October 18th. We are so fortunate in our school to have our parents supporting us with these events to support us and our students especially as a PTA National School of Excellence. If you haven’t joined yet, please consider joining and if you’re able to stay for all or a part of the October 20th meeting, I know it would be appreciated.

Certificated staff—Reminder to sign up for the October 21st Symposium—this is not a teacher workday, but a mandatory professional development day or an opportunity to attend the state MSEA conference. I have been given a list of those that are signed up and we still have some names missing. Thanks so much for you cooperation on this day.

Support staff—Reminder to sign up the 16th Annual FASSE Support Staff Development Day on Monday, October 31, 2016 from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM at Linganore High School. You will be able to choose from over ninety-two educational classes and workshops. Registration opened on Tuesday, October 11th at 7:00 am. This year, you can choose from a wide variety of classes designed especially for our support employees. This day includes a light breakfast and lunch.

Staff Meeting Dates: November 14, March 13, May 8, and June 5th.

Committee Meetings: Please check with your committee chair for meeting times. You must attend four committee meetings in place of the staff meeting time as agreed. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thank you again for all you do to ensure that SRES ignites Success Through a creative Environment with an Achievement Mindset!

Enjoy the weekend!

Patty and Hannah

Friendly Reminder

Please remember if you leave your classroom for anything other than specials let the office ladies know so that they can find you! It looks poorly on us when parents come in to pick up their child and we can't find them.

Flu Clinic

Rite Aid will be at SRES on Wednesday, Nov 9 from 4:30-5:30 pm. Schools open 4 hours late on this date for parent-teacher conferences.

All FCPS employees are eligible to participate and there is no cost for this flu shot for UHC members. Rite Aid will accept other insurance plans, but there may be a co-pay depending on your insurance coverage. Participants must have their insurance card at their appointment. UHC members can go to www.myuhc.com to login and print a temporary insurance card, if they don’t have an insurance card.

Come get vaccinated and protect yourself and those around you.

Math Quarterlies...

Have arrived for 1st-5th grades! The window is open until October 28th. Bubble sheets are due to Chris Collins by Friday, November 4th.

Coaches Corner

Remember that every child should be able to see your learning intentions and success criteria from any position in the classroom. Often these charts can be used for more than one lesson. "Make it Messy" by using dark color markers and try to keep this to 3-5 minutes. You can revisit the same chart and add throughout the lesson or on other days.

If you need chart paper, please ask Kara to order some for your team.
