Welcome Back TES Team!
August 20, 2018
Hello Everyone,
I hope that you are enjoying a relaxing, well deserved summer break! This summer has afforded me a lot of time to reflect, refresh, and reenergize for the upcoming school year and can't wait to kick off the 2018-19 school year!
We have been quite busy interviewing and hiring what I believe are some of the best educators out there! We've been able to enhance our TEAM! A warm welcome to our new staff members! Now more than ever we need to rely on one another and support each other. Please go out of your way to say hi, to give a compliment, and to get to know everyone. https://goo.gl/VSxMjD
Please take a moment to walk the building and check out many new spaces! We feel confident that we have maximized our learning environments and space for staff.

Upper Floor Plan
As we prepare to welcome our students back to TES on Tuesday, I want to take a moment to reiterate the critical role you play in the success of our school community. Your advocacy for our students, your commitment to ensuring they have every opportunity to learn and grow, and your willingness to continually reflect upon your teaching practice make you a very special group of educators. In my opinion, you are the absolute best!
As we embark on the upcoming school year, I would like you to keep the following things in mind:
1. Take One Day at a Time
Every day is a new day. Past successes, failures, and frustrations are behind us. What matters now is that we make the best of each moment. Recognize the daily opportunities we have to build relationships and connect with our students and colleagues. Be present in each moment!
2. Know Your “Big Rocks”
With each day, each lesson, each action – recognize what is truly important and invest your time and energy accordingly. Focus on what matters most.
3. Be a Family
Being involved in education can be taxing and stressful. We need to take care of ourselves, and each other. Constantly be on the “look-out” for your colleagues. Help encourage and lift each other up. Be willing to ask for (and accept) help when you need it. We are in this together!
4. Be Kind
Don’t ever underestimate the power of a smile, an encouraging word, or a random act of kindness. We are responsible for maintaining a safe and positive culture at TES. “Throw kindness around like confetti.”
I wanted to provide you with details for Monday, August 28th and some other important updates.

Grades 1-5 Open House & Ice Cream Social
After a successful, well attended event last year, we have decided to once again host the Open House/Ice Cream Social Event on Thursday, September 6th! We are hoping staff will support our raffle again this year. The raffle items can include fun, creative ways for students to engage with their teachers outside of the classroom (i.e. dance party, lunch with the teachers, ice cream sundaes after school, art projects, etc) All proceeds from the raffle will go directly back to TES so we truly appreciate your support! This is such a greatway to connect with students and I know you'll make someone's day! :)
Please add your raffle item to the google doc below by Thursday, August 30th. https://goo.gl/KykLMT
In closing, please know that you are valued and appreciated by Erin, John, Brian, and myself. We have the utmost respect and admiration for the work that you do. Working together, we are going to make this our best year yet for our 833 (and counting) students!
