Ripon Cathedral School Update

Year 5 Welcome Worship
Courageous Help
Joshua Brown in Year 4 has been really concerned about what is currently happening in Australia with the fires. With his mum, he suggested that his class should organise a cake stall to raise funds. We are proud of Joshua for leading this great idea, and for his class for getting on board. Our theme for this term is 'courage' and last Friday our Cathedral-led worship told the story of Moses and his courage in following God's commands. The worship closed with the prayer, “Give us courage to help and listen,” and our children have taken this to heart. So, on Monday after school (and during the day if we have enough donations!), Year 4 will be selling cakes, treats and maybe homemade crafts. Please support them with donations and purchases, many thanks.
Breakfast Natters comes to school!
Christingle Service - Tuesday 28th January - 5pm in the Cathedral
This lovely service has become an annual tradition in which we hope everyone will want to participate again this year. All children from Reception to Year 6 are invited to stay after school for tea before walking up to the Cathedral together. We will look after the children after school and the school kitchen will provide everyone with a free jacket potato before we walk up to the Cathedral in time for the 5pm service in the nave. You are warmly invited to join us in the Cathedral for this very special service. Children must be collected from the Cathedral at 5.30pm.
We feel this would make rather a long day for the Nursery children, so they will need picking up as usual at 3.15pm (if they are in Tuesday afternoon sessions). However, all Nursery children (whether attending on Tuesdays or not) are invited to attend the service with a parent/carer and we hope to see as many of you there as possible.
Please look out for letters in book bags about the service which will be going out early next week.
Training day/parent consultations Friday 14th February
This means that the school will be open as normal on Friday 6th March.
Bookable Oscar's provision will be available on Friday 14th February.
We have not received any objections to this change of date, so this change will now go ahead, thank you for your understanding.
Positive Behaviour Policy Feedback
Thank you very much for all the helpful responses to our proposed new Positive Behaviour Policy. The governors meet on Monday for further discussion and your input will be very useful.
People who help us
Also, our stock of junk modelling is running low, so if anyone has anything they could bring in, then we would be most grateful.

Half Term Break at Oscar's
Oscar's will be open on Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th February, but only if we have 15 children booked in two weeks in advance. Please make your booking by Friday 31st January so that we can all plan accordingly, thank you.
Following the training day change from Friday 6th March to Friday 14th February, we have automatically transferred any bookings made for 6th March. To confirm, Oscar's is open on Friday 14th February and booking is made online.

MESSAGE FROM THE FRIENDS
What a great start to the new year! We hope everyone had a lovely time off and enjoyed the Christmas break. The Friends are slowly getting plans together for events to happen after half term. We are also trying to get a date in the diary for our next meeting and once we have we will let everyone know.
We'd like to thank everyone for their clothing donations for Bags2School! The amount there on Thursday morning was great to see, so thank you very much.
Have a great weekend everyone.
