Van Brunt Elementary

October, 2016

Dear Van Brunt Families,

It's hard to believe we have been in school for a month! This year is off to a great start and we are seeing such great things from our students. We appreciate all you are doing at home to make this a great year! Whether you are encouraging your son/daughter to read at home, dress appropriately for the weather, be kind and respectful, or so many other things, we appreciate your effort to make this a great year!

During the past month, students learned about and practiced routines and procedures to help make Van Brunt a safe and great place to learn. Hallway, bathroom, classroom, playground, and cafeteria procedures were practiced. Students are earning Caught You Being Good tickets which are then put in for special drawings. We are seeing so many positive things from our students.

Students are enjoying reading and writing workshop where they are able to choose their own books and express themselves in their writing. It's exciting to see how engaged students are and how much they look forward to that time in their day! Math Expressions, our new math curriculum, is also going very well. Students are enjoying working together and learning by being actively involved in class.

We are looking forward to more great things in the coming months! As always, I welcome you to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns.

Congratulations PBIS School of Distinction!

Congratulations to the students, staff, and families of Van Brunt Elementary!

It is an incredible accomplishment to have Van Brunt Elementary recognized by the state two years in a row as a School of Merit and Distinction. We are so proud of our students and staff for implementing PBIS with fidelity and being part of a positive movement and change within our school! We celebrated this achievement with an assembly and all school dance party! Thank you to all of our staff, students and families for making Van Brunt a positive place to be!
