BOE to hold special meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 18
One of the aspects of Blue Valley that makes it special is our engaged families who value a high-quality education. The Board of Education would like to thank families and staff who have taken the time to share their thoughts about the recent learning mode decision. We hear you and assure you that your feedback is valuable to us.
The Board is holding a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18 in the Performing Arts Center at Blue Valley Northwest to review Blue Valley’s learning mode recommendations when gating criteria is enacted. The meeting will begin with in-person public comments. A livestream of the meeting is also available. A link to the livestream will be posted on the district website on the day of the meeting. More information about livestream is available online.
K-12 1:Learner Initiative Update: Devices coming for elementary students
Blue Valley plans to expand its 1:Learner initiative for all K-12 Blue Valley students during the 2020-21 school year. This means that elementary families can expect to receive a district-provided device for each elementary student to use for learning experiences both at school and at home. Incoming sixth and ninth grade students, as well as new students, will also receive district-issued devices as part of the district’s regularly scheduled PowerUp device distribution. These students will join current middle and high school students who have already received 1:Learner devices as part of the PowerUp initiative. Schools are currently coordinating device distribution details. Stay tuned for additional information!

Blue Valley Board Advisory Committees
The Blue Valley Board of Education believes in the active involvement and participation of the Blue Valley community in the affairs of the district through Board of Education Advisory Committees. As the district grows and changes, these advisory committees allow the Board to increase involvement in the school district and receive input from the community on key issues.
Committee members are appointed prior to the school year and serve two-year terms. Current standing committees include Curriculum and Instruction, Facility Planning, Finance and Operations, Health and Well-being, Student Activities, and Diversity Equity and Inclusion. At the August 10 Board of Education meeting, the Board appointed 12 patrons to the district’s newly created Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Board Advisory Committee. The goal of this committee is to advise the Blue Valley School District on all areas of diversity, equity and inclusion, resulting in thoughtful actions that respond to the needs of all students and staff.
Applications are still being accepted for limited openings on the Facility Planning Committee, Curriculum and Instruction Committee and Health and Well-being Committee. Patrons and community members interested in serving on a committee can submit an application online.
