Hamilton Elementary
May 11 Friday Updates
Social Media
Dear Parents,
We live in an interesting day and age where everything we do, think and feel can be instantly posted on social media and shared with friends, family and the world. Over the past few months, I have been made aware of several Facebook and other social media posts that portray Hamilton Elementary in a negative light. Hamilton is an amazing school and community. Any time negative information or thought is posted regarding Hamilton, it deeply affects the students, staff and fellow Hamilton community members. As parents, you made a decision for your child to attend Hamilton Elementary by moving into our attendance zone. Every negative post hurts your child, your child’s teacher and our Hamilton community as a whole. Every staff member at Hamilton is here because we love your kids. Every minute of every day is spent working to help your child grow and blossom into a successful adult. Staff members spend many hours outside the school day, planning lessons, attending professional development and even going to your child’s extra curricular activities to ensure your child has the best in school and out of school support.
While it is not my expectation that parents will agree with every decision that is made by administrators and teachers, I do expect that if you disagree with a decision, that you respectfully let us know of the concern. We always want the opportunity to help you better understand why decisions are made.
Before you post something negative about Hamilton on social media please give me a call to discuss your concerns. My cell phone number is 832.978.5415.
I truly believe that only together, can we continue to make Hamilton Elementary the best.
Kind regards,
Mrs. Conn
Proud Principal of Hamilton Elementary

News from the Clinic
As the end of the school year approaches, we would like to remind you to pick up any medications you provided to the school clinic this year.
District policy requires that the parent or guardian pick up all medication. Children are not allowed to carry any medication in their backpack. All medication must be picked up by Friday, June 1 before 4:00 pm.
Any medication that is not picked up by the end of the school day will have to be disposed of by the nurse.
2018-19 Student Placement
Each year, the teachers and Administration work hard to place every child in a classroom in which they will find great success. Many factors are considered when making this placement, including academic success, student personality and any individual needs specific to a child.
If you have information that you feel is important in helping make this decision, please email or send a letter to your child's Assistant Principal or our Counselor by May 18, 2018.
Information that is helpful in placing your child includes:
- Personality characteristics of your child
- Personality of the teacher (structured, easy going, etc.)
- Special needs
- History of the child
- Family situations
Due to time and calendar constraints, administrators will not be available for conferences regarding student placement for the 2018-2019 school year.
Please know that we do not take teacher requests for class placement.
Please email one of the following with your information:

*Kerry Iselt (kerry.iselt@cfisd.net)

Credit by Exam
The State Board of Education has established procedures to allow elementary students to “skip” one grade level by taking a series of exams which assess the Texas Essential Knowledge/Skills (TEKS) established for that grade level.
For Students in grades K-5 wanting to skip NEXT YEAR’S grade level, the next opportunity to use “credit-by-exam” to accelerate to the next grade level will be in June and August 2018. Students will only have one opportunity to test for each grade level considered.
Parents interested in having their children screened for credit-by-exam should contact their school counselor, Michelle Erickson at michelle.erickson@cfisd.net. If the school is unable to answer a question, please call Diane Garland at the Instructional Support Center (281-517-6848).
