Hearing

Children's hearing starts to improve during the middle childhood stage. By age of 11 most children have the auditory awareness of adults.Ear infections can hinder health and lead to hearing loss. As children age the number of ear infections they get decreases, for the Eustachian tube that connects the middle ear to the throat has changed position.

Vision

By age six most children are ready to start reading.Their ability to focus has improved. Most preschoolers are farsighted, but during their middle years their close up vision improves.Throughout middle childhood, nearsightedness is a common problem for most kids. The more children engage in close up work and reading the greater their chances of having this problem are. Nearsightedness can be overcome with corrective lens, which approximately 25% have.

Teeth

Children start losing their "baby teeth" at this age The first teeth to fall out is usually the front top and bottom teeth. Around the age of 12 all of the primary teeth should be replaced with their 20 permanent teeth. These teeth will appear un-proportional to the child's face at first, but as the facial bones grow and the child develops their teeth will fit into place. Some children are self-conscience about their tooth loss. A common problem for middle age children is tooth decay and cavities. Eating a well-balanced diet and brushing your teeth after every meal will prevent this.

Obesity

Obesity is a common problem with children this age. If a child weighs 20% then the rest of the children their age and gender they are considered obese. Being obese can impact a child's emotional health, for they get teased and ridiculed by peers; have fewer friends and get selected last in group projects and teams. Some factors that affect obesity is if your children are too overweight, it can be inherited. what a child eats effects their weight and stress,. Overweight children often become overweight adults. Over weightness can lead to high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes.
