From the Principal
Hopefully this message finds you well and in good spirits. Last week was filled with engaging activities in the classroom, various celebrations, and continued safety. Did you ever roll down the hill during recess as a child in elementary? Come on; be honest. I know that was a highlight for me, and some of our 4th graders decided to experience that for themselves this past week. The playground may be closed, but recess fun continues. A special thank you to three of our 5th graders, Aiden, Max, and Slade, for ensuring that our flags are raised and lowered each morning.
We continued wearing our blue and yellow on Wednesdays, giving birthday shout outs on Friday, and recognizing campus leaders on Friday. Dr. Washington and I are appreciative of the love, expressions, and tokens provided to us on National Boss's Day. We are blessed to serve at Lake Ridge Elementary.
This week we receive additional scholars in the building since Learning Option #2 kicks off Monday, October 19. As a result, we will pause our synchronous virtual support to allow time for procedures to be taught, modeled, practiced, and reinforced. Thanks in advance for your understanding, and the Google Meet links will be accessible again on Wednesday, October 21. The beginning of the year MAP Assessments continue on this week with MAP Math for K-5. Signup information is included on below in the newsletter, and you can email emily.washington@chisd.net for questions or concerns.
If your child/children will return to Traditional Instruction based on Learning Option #2, please take a moment to review this presentation so that you are reminded of various items. Here is the presentation that has been previously shared with families for you to reference: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1nY7JXjjQ7d26HrGVdKzNDfbc8GD_mHlQkXawbkvnCCY/edit?usp=sharing. If you are unsure of your child's learning option, please email marquita.mccullum@chisd.net to inquire.
Many have tuned in virtually for our morning announcements each day, and we hope that you will continue doing so. Be mindful that we will begin the morning announcements at 7:40 a.m. instead of 7:45 a.m. The earlier time will help get the instructional day started.
While we are not accepting walk-ins at this time, you are encouraged to call the campus and/or email us for assistance. As a reminder, if you need support with accessing your Skyward/Family Access account, please email family.access@chisd.net. All families are encouraged to log in to make sure that email addresses and phone numbers are accurate. If you need assistance and/or have a question about technology, you may email devicesupport@chisd.net, or call the helpline at 469-272-2082.
Be sure to keep the following dates(s) in mind:
- October 19: Learning Option #2 Begins
- October 19-23: MAP Math Assessment (K-5 Grades)
