Library Happenings @Bement
Great books, tech tips and noteworthy news
Along the red carpet
This year's big winners were: Locomotive by Brian Floca the Caldecott Medal; Flora and Ulysses: The Illuminated Adventure by Kate DiCamillo the Newbery Medal ( #2 for this superstar); P.S. Be Eleven by Rita Williams-Garcia, the Coretta Scott King award and Midwinterbood by Marcus Sedgewick won the Printz.
Third grade is doing a Mock Caldecott project right now, and 6th Grade has completed a deep analysis of picture books and they would love to talk about their favorites!

"Flipping Out"
This week we are flipping over Flipsnack. This ebook creator is so easy to use, versatile, and creates a beautiful end product.
Oh, the possibilities! Publish individual student work, create an anthology of classroom work, write your own textbook! The frosting on the cake is that the ebooks can then be added to our library catalog for our entire school community to enjoy.
Here is the Destiny entry for the recently published anthology from Shelley's 8th grade English students. Click on the link "Click her to read e-book".
We have an educational account, so let me know if you would like to learn more and give e-publishing a try.
