Canby School District News
September 26, 2018
Dear Canby Families:
The 2018-19 school year is off to a great start. Our staff and students are engaged in teaching and learning and we're enjoying the positive momentum. I want to thank you for your partnership in starting the year on such a high note.
As I've visited classrooms over the past month, I've noticed students focused and participating in their education. It's impressive to see this level of engagement as students take an active role in their own learning. I've also been inspired by the care and kindness I witness when I walk into one of our schools. Students are looking out for one another and working to be more inclusive. This is what Canby School District is all about.
In this month's newsletter, we're focusing on our goal of improving student achievement. Throughout this email, you'll find specific, actionable ways you can partner with us to work toward achieving this goal. From something as simple as making sure your student attends school to better understanding academic standards and assessments, you have a significant impact on academic achievement.
Next month, Oregon Department of Education will release its report cards on our schools. These report cards will look different than in year's past, but will include the same achievement data. As you review this year's report cards, I invite you to contact your principal with any questions you may have about your school's performance.
As we all transition back into our school year routines, we are grateful for your commitment to your students and you support of Canby School District. I'm looking forward to continuing this positive momentum from the beginning of the year all the way through June.
Best,
Trip Goodall

One of the tools we have available is an assessment called i-Ready. K-8 students will be using this program so teachers can ensure students are on the road to proficiency. The program assists teachers in identifying areas for growth and differentiating instruction for students at all levels.
