Academy of the Arts at Bransom
March 19-23, 2018 (School Days 124-128)
A Note From Your Principal
Welcome Back, Academy of the Arts Families!
What an amazing time of renewal and rest we've had during Spring Break. Now, it's time to spring into an incredible time of the school year. There is so much to anticipate - weather changes, student performances, field trips, continued learning, and assessment of the years' progress. What an great time and great place to learn and grow.
Below, you will find some pics from events in the past few weeks as well as announcements of important events coming up. If you have been keeping up with Facebook and Twitter since my last newsletter, you may have already seen the pics and are already aware of the upcoming events. But enjoy again!
I want to also encourage each of you this week to join the PTO at Burleson Spring Creek on Tuesday night. I promise you great food and great fellowship. This Thursday night is our annual Talent Show. I promise you great talent and great entertainment. The Talent Show will take place in the school gym at 6:00 and we encourage each of you to join us.
Reminder for 1st-5th graders: We are all so excited about a field trip to the University of Texas at Arlington this Wednesday to see "Shrek Jr. the Musical." All students in 1st-5th grades should remember to bring a sack lunch for the trip. This stage production could be what it takes to encourage our students to be confident performers in life. Fees and permission slips must be turned in by Tuesday morning for final arrangements.
FYI: Do you have Garage Sale items but no time to have a garage sale? The Relay for Life would love to take those items off your hands. Next Saturday morning, the Team will hold their annual garage sale from the school cafeteria and the proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society. You may want to give our office a call for the best times to drop your items off.
In closing, I'd like to tell you about something I was reminded of this weekend from the 2006 movie "Facing the Giants." Each one of us must give our very best every time we engage in our work, whatever our work. We must not quit but keep going when the road gets tough. In the struggle we will probably find that we are better equipped to be successful than we realize. We are counting on you to encourage and instruct your child so that they are prepared for all that lies ahead. Don't lose focus or the will to do your work right and with courage. Parenting can be tough but we have THE BEST around and we know it!
I know that each of you have choices in your child's education and I am extremely proud that you have chosen the Academy of the Arts at Bransom.
Thanks again for ALL you do,
Mrs. Burchfield
ATTENDANCE ATTENTION
Congratulations, Kindergarten families. Your attendance was the best on our campus the week before the break at 98.35%. Wow! Our overall attendance was at 97.18%! We are so glad to see the 97 percentages again. We are so glad to see so many back on the road to good health. Let's stay there!
Calling All 5th Graders and their Families
Math Tip of the Week from Mrs. Blair
Show your kids math at work in their world. It is important for students to see how math relates to "real-life" situations. Let your children work out some puzzles themselves. For example:
Let them measure when you bake.
Ask them to figure out how long of a hose you need to reach from the faucet on the side of the house to the garden.
Let your child figure out how many miles you’ll be driving on your next trip by using the information on a map.
Sort silverware by knives, forks, and spoons. Sort cards by suit or numbers.
A.M.P. CAMP Presents...
...Ms. Davenport who shares her love of ballet.
The experience was new for many students but their participation was great.
We appreciate the coordination of the experience by AMP teachers.
BRAVO!
Successful Open House
Pride shows through in the Servant's Hearts of the Relay for Life Team, the classroom/hallway work of our students, the dedication of volunteers from the Scholastic Book Fair, and the magnificent student artwork.
