Earning the Square
Enter (or continue) the blogging world! Although some bloggers are clearly pretty arrogant, blogging really isn't proclaiming to the world "I'm an expert. Hear what I have to say." It is being brave enough to let others into your professional growth journey, so they may grow along with you. You've probably benefitted from such writings yourself, now you can give back. It will also be very powerful in helping you reflect on what you're doing and determine each next step.
Earn this square by writing at least 10 blog posts as you pursue your building's specific critical thinking goal:
- Montezuma - Reflect and write on your STEM projects.
- Riverton Parke - Reflect and write on how you are bringing application into your lessons
- Rosedale - Reflect and write about the complex math problems you are doing daily with your students
Here some reflections to get you started...
- How are students responding?
- Do you see evidence that students are thinking critically?
- Are the tasks complex enough?
- What great learning moments are you witnessing?
- What is proving difficult and how will you overcome it?
Below is a great article to help you choose a blogging platform, as well as links to some of them. Use whatever suits you best. As always, let Rachel know if you need some guidance or training!
A word from Rachel about Wordpress... In case you're curious, Wordpress is my platform of choice - used to create all of my sites/blogs including awakenlearning.net. I highly recommend it, especially if you want lots of features and customization options and aren't too afraid of techie stuff. It might not be the best choice for others. Regardless, if you choose to use Wordpress, please read this page first to learn the difference between Wordpress.org and Wordpress.com before you do anything! If you consider yourself more of a novice, I would recommend that you consider Blogger (a Google product) or Weebly.
