Note from the Principal
Greetings Buena Vista Parents,
Wow! I cannot believe how quickly this year is slipping by. We are down to the last 12 days of school and are finishing up all of our learning and assessing over the next two weeks. I want to thank the teachers and families that joined us for Opened House last night. What a great opportunity to see how much our students have grown this year. As I went through classrooms, I was especially impressed by the growth we could see in our student writing. It was quite impressive.
I also want to thank Jamie Fields, Mary Stone, and the rest of their team for putting together a great BV Jamboree despite the questionable weather! We were packed out, and students were having a blast. What an amazing day. Thank you PTA for bringing fun and laughter to our school! 💚🐶💛
Extended Learning Opportunity Program (ELOP)
WCSD is pleased to announce a new and exciting after-school program that will be available for your student(s) to participate in starting in August 2023! Each of our schools will be hosting this extended school program that will run until 6:00 p.m. each day. For more information, please visit our ELOP website. Select your child’s school on the right hand side to learn about the program provider and to view a Parent Information video. General registration will be available beginning May 15th.
Walnut Creek Arts & Recreation
The Social Services Division of the Arts + Recreation Department in the City of Walnut Creek is dedicated to bringing to the special needs community recreation and leisure activities that enhance the lives of all who participate. Currently we offer a summer day camp for participants ages 5-21 and a separate adult program for ages 18 and above. Although we have had great success with these programs, we know we can do more. We are looking to include a personal enrichment portion to the program as well as expand into dedicated youth and older adult focused activities. We would like your input and suggestions!
We are hosting two group discussion workshops, one on zoom the other in person. The zoom workshop is scheduled for Monday, May 22 from 2:00pm-3:30pm. The in-person workshop is scheduled for Friday, June 2 at Civic Park Community Center Conference Room from 6:00pm-7:30pm. We will have staff available to assist with child care while you attend the workshop. We hope you are able to make one or both of our workshops as your ideas and suggestions are vital to the growth of the program. We look forward to seeing you.
Please RSVP so we can gather a head count for each discussion group.

Chances are that you know someone who is struggling with their mental health. People experiencing mental health challenges aren’t broken — they need support and care. And that begins with a conversation.
This month we have an opportunity to break the stigma around mental health by talking openly, compassionately, and kindly to each other. No one should ever struggle alone.
If you want to quickly be connected to a mental health care provider, contact Care Solace, a complimentary and confidential mental health care coordination service provided by Walnut Creek School District:
Call 888-515-0595. Multilingual support is available 24/7/365.
Visit www.caresolace.com/wcsd and either search on your own OR click “Book Appointment” for assistance by video chat, email, or phone.
Don’t hesitate to ask for help, use the resources around you, and never give up hope.
THANK YOU, VOLUNTEERS!
This year would not be possible without the help and support from our teachers, room parents, and families who helped with Book Fair, Fun Run, Glo Dance, Movie Night, Yearbook, Multi-Cultural Night, Teacher Appreciation Week, Jamboree, etc. It takes a village to help make the school year a successful and fun experience.
In honor of all our volunteers, we will be hosting a Volunteer THANK YOU Breakfast on Thursday, May 11th from 7:30-9:00 am. This breakfast is for all parents who volunteered throughout the year and for our teachers. Stop by for coffee and pastries and to hang out with other volunteers and mingle. THANK YOU!

We would like to give a round of applause to all the golfers who participated, the attendees of our 19th Hole Reception, our wonderful WCEF volunteers, and a huge shout-out to all the sponsors of the Fore! Education Golf Tournament!
